YES! That is the plan, but they are still in negotiations with Amtrak and Via Rail in Canada. The commuter rail stations and funding need to be approved first. If you look at Google Earth or Maps, you'll notice the track aligns with stations at Ford Canada HQ (Windsor), both Dearborn sites (Rouge Factory and HQ site), and Ford factories in Wayne and out East. There is also a platform to test ford self-driving and electric vehicles.

@@peterconrad6135 its primarily because of the location of MCS. Corktown, the section of Detroit where MCS is, is fairly far from the downtown area, whereas the present Amtrak station there is closer. But I heard rumblings that Ford is in talks with Amtrak about returning services there.
if a parking garage is made,, make it far away,,, please,, have some kind of system to bring people to and from parking. the building is to pretty to have a structure near it, just a thought, lol
You know, after spending $700 million dollars plus you'd think they'd be very clear on what they're going to do in there. It seems most of the reporting I have seen makes that very unclear. Turns out it's mostly going to be a hotel and office space for the Ford Motor Company. There is also supposed to be a ground floor restaurant and some retail shops. From what I can tell, this is mostly Ford Motor Company office space with the upper 10 floors as luxury hotel units. I've just never seen a 3/4 billion dollar restoration with such unclear usage intentions. I kind of have to remind myself that Ford has never been known for their concern about anybody other than Ford.

@peach495 well, you got that wrong. The upper 10 floors are going to be hotel rooms, with the bulk of the remaining space will be for Ford Motor Company research Office Space, and the main area open to the public with small shops. I mentioned this because every news article seems to dance around the subject of this building's future use. Apparently, Ford got like a 200 million tax break to invest in the property, and therefore the majority of its use is going to go to Ford Motor Company. Hopefully the retail aspect of the remaining space will be profitable. Paying attention to wrong information just makes a person Dumber.
@@reubenj.cogburn8546 I understand that Ford will have offices & research. I only referenced the commercial space with a restaurant because they said it would be there in this video. 2:00 "The project is set to include retail space, a restaurant & residential units". A direct quote from this video. I simply repeated what they said in the video.

A gas station with vending machines is not a convenience store. A hotel with office space is not residential housing and restaurants. Misrepresenting the facts is serving some sort of purpose here, I'm just wondering what. Sometimes, television news blips simply get it wrong.
Disagree. It’s cleaning at a nice pace while places likeSan Francisco are declining at that rate. ….but you can be pessimistic instead I’m sure that’s a happy existence
Beautiful building! Even in disrepair you could tell that it had amazing potential. Glad the “D” is heading in the right direction.
I explored that building back in the early 90s. It was unbelievable inside, especially the main lobby. Happy to see the restoration.
It's beautiful! Fabulous work by Mr. Ford and his team. THEY WERE GOING TO DEMOLISH THIS several times.

People are saying there will be a big earthquake on that same day in LA. Let’s see.
But it will get trains back yes?
Nope. This will contain a hotel, retail space, and Ford offices.

Very nice.
My question is what are they going to do in there?

Have sex
Research facility for Ford Motor Co. and a hotel on the upper floors.
