the progress bar system is very similar to what Apex Legends has been doing in events. You unlock all the cosmetics and you get a special heirloom or skin, usually costing at least $100. The fact Ubi is taking inspiration from EA is telling.

I mean Ubi is OWNED by EA, so I dont think its them taking inspiration, as it is EA literally forcing their hand
@@mrserket1264 Where’d you hear that? EA and Ubisoft are two completely separate companies. It seems that EA had a small share in Ubisoft in past times but they have sold their stake long ago. EA has no control over what’s happening at Ubi, so it was merely inspiration.

@@eclipticpeak8452 Yea Tencent holds a 49.9% stake in Guillemot Brothers Limited, which in turn owns around 15% of Ubisoft. But this does not mean they have direct ownership of Ubisoft itself. Neither tencent or EA have immediate control or can 'force Ubisoft's hand' in decisions like the recent ones seen in this event. These decisions are made by ubisoft’s leadership. Just like the change with the battle pass system making it a subscription service, this just further proves ubi trying to make siege more monetarily based

Yep they’re beating up a dieing corpse for more money this industry of online gaming genuinely disgusts me it’s so sad how every online game company even some single player game company’s don’t care about their game and want to milk it from a lot of money and under deliver for the content they are giving while also over pricing everything and only caring about money
Also it’s even more disgusting devs are forced to work long shifts for a non fair pay while being controlled by the ceo shareholders and higher ups to add more micro transactions and cosmetics instead of content the game needs or overhauling the game to stop it from breaking every update siege has the worst updating ive ever seen the engine breaks from everything it seems the higher ups don’t care if the season they are about to get released is in a broken state or not
Also gaming atleast online gaming for the most part is a sickening industry that keeps getting worse by the month it disgusts me so badly no company’s higher ups care about their game more the money and value of the company

Doktor's Curse has 100+ cosmetics. If they decide to gimp that down to 30 or so reskins in their own collection, that will fucking suck.
Siege is such a great game. It genuinely hurts that ubisoft is beyond money hungry and would rather throw up repetitive shit rather than make new quality content. I feel bad for the devs

Im sry but if they really wanted to make money from these events they would've atleast put more effort into these skins. Im passing on these skins and the event is just the same old one from last year, if they want to milk this game then atleast make some good cosmetics my god.

I usually save up around 300-350k in renown to buy the even packs every season. And that mute gun skin looks pretty cool but reskinning old ones to make you buy more is just pathetic. It’s so hard for me to defend this game sometimes
I agree, imagine how much more money they would rack in since it’s their only goal of the game they would make if all the skins had as much detail as mutes weapon skin. I mean it’s insane how skummy it is to re color skins and then release it as an event thinking people are going to be excited to play matches.
I need 16 packs for the mp5 it’s so cool but it would cost me 35 euros… bit much.

Before they recolored the uniforms but at least gave us unique headgears...but now they're just recoloring the headgears as well? When you thought Ubi couldn't become cheaper in their execution...and the memento thing...operation new money continues to impress us in the worst way possible
But people are gonna buy these, giving ubi tons of undeserved money and nothing will change because of it (in contrary, this will become the new norm...less effort, same or more profit

With the battle pass, it costs about 350,000 renown. With a 2x renown booster, I typically earn about 500-550 renown a match. It would take *675* winning matches to get it.

Damn, I was hoping for a return to the original game mode this time. I thought the teleporting was more interesting with the mechanics of siege.
I'm convinced Siege's and Apex's managements are actively taking notes on each other as to what monetizing bs they can get away with.
Apex is also changing their battlepass in a way that reminds you about R6's membership
I love how in the last season ubisoft has really just said "nah stop hiding that were are a money hungry scummy company, just take there money and tell them your welcome."

@@CelicaSNC u were able to get it as its own bundle last year I believe so u didn't have to gamble. And I'm locked out of my ubi account cuz of my 2factor no longer working..

I save my renown exclusively to spend it on event packs. I was okay with the approach in past seasons to expand the existing collection---annoyed that it was padded out with crap portraits and charms, but grateful have a second chance to try for a neat skin I didn't unlock the first time around. With this great big middle finger in my face, to pad out the collection not only with crap, but also straight up duplicates of stuff I already unlocked, I'm out. I'm not spending any renown, much less r6 credits. It's lazy, greedy and stupid and I refuse to reward it.

Ubi out here monitizing skins over actually fixing the game. Even the mode is recycled but hey there graphic design artist (who’s probably the only paid person on staff) made some new skins for you to look at instead of the cheater that’s ruining your lobby.

Wow the uniforms are sooo lazy! I won't even call them reskins, those are recolors probably done in GIMP using colorize. An 8th grader can do that.

I know you aren't allowed to say it due to your position, but for all those wondering the real issue is the players. People buy into this every single time. Common skins have always cost the same amount as the operator themselves and nobody complained, people bought the rainbow6 subscription, and people bought the ubisoft subscription. As long as they keep making free money by not lowering prices or something they will continue to add these features.
The biggest example in this video for the new methodologies they have is the free pack you would just get for having an account is now a pack you have to claim. This means if people want it they have to reinstall and scroll through ingame ads to claim it, and they have limited time.

Personally I dont mind them doing recolors for event skins. It gives people who like the look of a cosmetic but not the color another option to get the items they like but in a color that looks better to them. My problem starts when they add an heirloom system from Apex to this game for a fucking mp5 skin. They are already bad in apex because they were extremlely over priced. Now in r6 they are overpriced, on maybe 3 to 4 ops max (depending on the gun they do these on) as well as they are pretty much begging for money this season with the marketplace, the membership, and the reashed packs all while adding no new content AND not fixing the very big problems with the game like the cheaters in 70% of games or this horrid ranked system that 2.0 created
