I went from a Glock 19 to a Colt defender simply because I want .45 caliber at my fingertips For conceal carry. It works well with a hybrid holster because the hammer digs into my waist and the hybrid gives me the padding that I need. Make your shots true and precise because you’ve only got 7 to 10 rounds depending on what kind of magazine you use just a personal choice
You may be having issues with the magazines in the 1911. You cannot run Commander or full size mags in the Defender. At one time I had two Colt Defenders and love them both. Never had any issues, you just need to buy the magazines that fit them. Also usually takes 500 rounds to break in a 1911. I've been carrying one since the mid-90s.
Yah I had twelve mags out there with me. They were all officers frame mags from wilson, nighthawk, and colt. I ran all the same mags through my nighthawk and Wilson CCOs with zero issues. I had shot a total of 450 rounds with it slowly getting worse. The ejection pattern was way off normal so I tuned the extractor and that helped that issue the next morning but didn’t help with the failure to feed issue.
@@stevestock2439 thank you bud. That was the first colt 1911 I’ve ever had an issue with. But there are lemons in everything and I normally happen in to one or two.
You and I may be the only two that feel that way. You’re right it’s an excellent pistol in my opinion. To me it has half the recoil of the defender too.
The 30s is a fantastic pistol. With that being said it is thick for carry but always works. The shield 45 is an excellent pistol that always works too and for whatever magic smith and Wesson did on it makes it recoil like a 9mm. The 30s is a lot snappier than the shield45. The shield 45 is thinner, lighter, 6-7 rounds and recoils less. If I wasn’t going to be around mud and water much I would choose the shield. But the way I fish if I take a 45 it’s normally the 30 mainly because it is easier to clean for me if I fully submerge it (myself actually). Lol I fish a lot of backwoods creeks where people normally don’t go. The fact of having a 13 round backup mag from the glock 21 helps too when I’m way out there. Colts are beautiful and shoot great when the barrel length is 4” or longer. I haven’t had very good luck with under 4” in 1911s. Plastics don’t seem to have issues there though. That’s why i prefer plastics for carry. Hope this helps.
Thank you bud. I was the same way man. I think there is definitely something about 4” or more on barrel length for 1911s. I dont think colt and a lot of other companies are building firearms like they used to. I think there are a lot of companies that are living off their name. Thanks for watching bud.
Thanks man. It’s either 10” or 12”. I’m pretty it is 12” though. I’ve had it a long time. I love shooting 100 yards like that man. It makes shooting 30 yards seem like a breeze.
Kinda what I thought but after the other 14 I tried I decided it wasn’t the mags. I had Wilson’s, nighthawks, and colts. All mags jammed at one time or another with the colt. Sucks but it is what it is.
Well crap. You shoot 45 as fast as I shoot 22. Now I wanna see you with 10mm and those .2 splits. :) If you ever wanted an MP5, the Turkish ones are like $1100-$1200 right now. I shot a 30rd group inside a nickel sized hole at 20Y with a fast cadence (not as fast as you), and now I’m addicted. But the aftermarket and roller delayed stuff is pricey. Now I’m looking at real SP5s, so I may need to find a cheaper hobby. Maybe Formula 1.
Thank you bud. I’m right there with you on needing to find a cheaper hobby. Between fishing and this I eat a lot of peanut butter samiches. 😆. I’ve actually toyed with getting a glock 29 here lately. I have a 20 just not a 29. Or a glock model 40. That seems like a person could milk all the goody out of the ten with that one.

The Glock 30s "just runs" says it all. Thanks for posting.
Shooting at a hundred yards and hitting the target is amazing to me. Good video. Very informative
yeah this dude is a fuckin SHOOTER
Dude u definitely a super accurate shooter for real!
I bought my 30s last week and it's such a sweet shooter the trigger is awesome and it's definitely my favorite pistol now even over my glock 19..
Heck yah man. Congratulations. They are definitely amazingly awesome
Mag issues. I have never had any issues with my 1911 Defender elite 3".

@@livennick9I started carrying a 1911 in the Army. Been carrying 1911 for 55 years now and that 500 rounds to break it in story is total bull 🐂💩
Too bad the little 1911 didnt work out, enjoyed the vid and kudos -you can shoot a hand gun for sure.

The M&P Shield 2.0 in .45 auto is an excellent concealed carry alternative to the COLT Defender.

Been waiting on another handgun vlog. Woooohooooo
Does the 30s have more felt recoil compared to the standard 30?
Maybe just a little bit it’s so little it’s hard to notice unless you’re looking for it. Hope
This helps bud. It’s a great gun.
The Glock 30s was my first 45 I've ever shot but the recoil was so soft I enjoyed shooting it more than I did my Glock 26
Great video, I’ve been wanting a colt defender or a 30s but after seeing that I’m thinking 30s . I’ve also looked at a 45 shield. Any thoughts?

Lmao @ the flip flops
( I don’t know why I found that so funny )
Nice shooting as always.. had a defender series 80 couldn’t hit at distance with it might’ve been just me traded it off

good video nick not sure about the colt think maby it should go buy buy
It did already. 😂 you know me. If they don’t function there’s no place in my rotation for them. I picked up a HK45ct.
Wilson combat mags ... factory mags always suck on 1911 it seems like
Yah if you’ll notice 3 were wilsons and a couple nighthawks in there as well.
Damn how big is that target? I'm amazed with that 100ft shot

@livennick9 I shot a target with my glock 34 at 200 yards but it was with an RMR and about 5-10 shots later haha
@@crayzemixer heck yah man. That’s awesome. That’s some bragging rights right there.
Wonder if u got a bad mag
