@@HeroesNextDoor this was way back in high school. I didn't have the transportation or resources at the time. Plus there was a lot of gatekeeping where I'm from. Kind of wish there were more outreach programs at the time but it is what it is. Better late than never.
I am already a Probie Firefighter and I am so much better at the physical portion but I AM HORRIBLE at remembering stuff and I AM SO NERVOUS for class to start EMT class on Tuesday. My first ever call on the Engine was a 3 month old cardiac arrest and I will never forget that call
I’m literally taking an EMT Class because I stepped away from EMS and let all of my certifications (EMR, CPR) go and missed the state deadline to take my psychomotor examination by 1 day so now I have to start from the beginning
@@HeroesNextDoor Haha! Hey! I did finish and took my certification as well! It went well, being primarily an online school during C19 it was quite interesting. Because I got it more for education and personal knowledge, I'm primarily using it with the SAR group I'm in. Maybe in the future I'll put it to more practical use and join as a volunteer FF. Thanks!!
@@michaelborrello9944 So i am still currently in and start my ride time next week! I passed midterm and got to stay in class and in december we took a two month pause because of COVID so im back in class now and have two months left im so nervous for the ride time
$600 approx for the course?!? That's like some states their actual EMS stations conduct community courses... Wow I wish... Not here in Tn ! It's like college only and around $3500/$4k starting out! Doesn't seem fair right? Are there any stations offering it in Tn??
Witnessed a cardiac arrest on my first ride along. I knew it was what I wanted to do pretty quick after that.
How do i do a ride along?

These are things I never had when I wanted to be a CNA. No mentorship, bad guidance and advice, no direction, etc. This is a great video! Thanks!
You're so welcome!

So, you can just ask to go onto a ride-along?
In the sheriff’s explore program, you’d have to have hours of community service prior to a ride along.
Every department is slightly different but normally YES just ask and find out the details of how. First step is to ask

Have you tried online courses. Good Fellowship Training Center might be able to help?
wish i had heard about you back about 7 years ago when i attempted to take an emt course but didnt get verry far
What caused you to fail? I’m starting an EMT course soon and am super nervous about it. I’ve been out of school for a long time
Hi there, I’m starting EMT in 2 weeks. Any advice for someone who is nervous as hell?
Relax first, stay ahead of the reading requirements, ask all the questions you can.
How’s the pay
Does it matter how well a person did in high school?
I know you mentioned that it’s a higher education but i was just curious if they look upon that
Nope. I sucked in high school. I graduated with a 1.75 gpa and I thrive in the EMS field.
@@HeroesNextDoor Ok thanks 😊
600 dollars? I’m paying 4 grand
