i learned this many years ago in seminary.

Why do I do this? 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 teaches us the Bible is inspired of God (not other pubs) for teaching and "setting matters straight." Psalms 83:18 says "So men may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the most High over all the earth." When you see Lord where another Bible says Jehovah, it should teach wise men something. Lord is a title, not a name. The enemy loves this. A question to ponder... who here is quoting directly from the Bible and who here is giving opinion?

The name Jesus Christ derives from Greek not Hebrew, and is the name used when Jesus Christ became flesh and dwelt among us. The name of God in ancient Hebrew is written YHWH (as per Moses on the mountain) and it is known as the Tetragrammaton. The Hebrew pronunciation of just the letters YHWH (that we call nouns in English) is approximately “Yodh he waw he”.
Ancient Hebrew was always written without vowels and understanding of it was lost during the Babylonian Captivity. Later Hebrew scholars had to try to translate the Torah into what could be called modern Hebrew. There was never an effort to deliberately leave out vowels to prevent people from saying the name because Jews consider it disrespectful to say the name of God and rightfully so!
Instead they would say “HaShem” meaning “the name” or Elohim meaning “GOD”, Adoni meaning “my lord” and other titles instead of his name. Kind of like say “Judge” or “Your Honour” to a Judge (but not calling him by his name out of respect for his position).
So, it is not true that everywhere you see the word “LORD” in the Torah (aka Old Testament) that it means YHWH. It could mean the other titles to depending on the context etc. It always amazes me how irresponsible people are regarding translations of the Bible.

Wow! So thankful that Jehovah's witnesses have published God's name repeatedly to the world... Even though most people scoff at the name, they have made it known.
A Jewish scholar doing intense research recently found an ancient document with the vowels within the Divine name. It is in fact YaHooVVaH.
The Jews ignored what God told Moses in Exodus regarding making his name known, and listen to the rabbis instead who told them to keep the name to themselves and not speak it.
In doing this, the Jews have treated God's name like God told them to treat the names of false gods, not to even speak those names, even though those names are spoken every time they read the Old Testament where the names of false gods are throughout it.
The Jews even dash out the vowels in words like God, supposedly to show respect to God, but this is exactly how God's holy name was forgotten because over time, people forgot what the vowels were.
The remedy to this is to do exactly what God said to do in the bible, and be honest about what vowels go where.
We can easily see how Satan is behind these things in order to obscure the true name and identity of the true God, and replace him with somebody else. The Catholic papacy has been doing it for centuries.
