- We were reminded of our time in Malta as we explored Bornholm Denmark. The fortifications found on the island plus the island’s location on the gateway to and from the many countries of the Baltic Sea makes it a sought-after piece of land.
The episode begins with us departing Germany’s Rügen peninsula for the 75 mile sail to the harbor of Hasel on Bornholm’s western coast. We use this harbor for a home base as we explore by food and bus. We are dazzled with the numerous cute towns and beautiful landscapes and architecture.
Of particular interest are Hammershus Slot (Hammershus Castle) and the four round churches from the 12th and 13th centuries. We also visit a granite quarry as we hike the north shore. We are impressed with the number of sailboats that squeeze into the many tiny stone-wall harbors with narrow entrances.
Next episode, we sail to Sweden and begin enjoying some or their thousands of islands in their many archipelagos.
Enjoy!

Do you have code 0 sail and genoa sail? Or jib sail?
I ordered genoa sail only. I thought genoa sail will be enough to upwind sail. How about your opinion?
Hi Harleyacht. We have a genoa and a code 0. When you are close-hauled, the genoa is your best option. When we are off the wind slightly, for instance beam reaching, we like the Code 0. It is a little more work to setup, deploy, and furl when the wind gets too strong, but the boat sails much better with it. Good luck!
Another interesting video! You went past where RAN Sailing keeps their weekending boat at Åhus while they are building their new 50'er at their home just outside of Skåne-Tranås.
Ah, interesting! Glad you enjoyed the video - we appreciate the comments!
Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Would it be possible to show a little bit more of your sailing including sail changes and docking, I know these can be a little more stressful.
Yes - we will try to show more of that - thanks for your interest! I know we have quite a bit of footage on docking so we’ll try to pull that together.
