[SFM] Walking With Dinosaurs Inspired Animation - Downfall Of The Colossus - Part 1

  • Опубликовано: 24 сен 2023
  • This is the first part of a 3 part series about the epic battle that took place 94 500 000 years ago. Once a year a large group of Mapusaurus gathers on Argentinosaurus nesting grounds to take down the largest land animal to ever walk the earth.
    All models are taken either from SFM/Garry's mod workshops or other model packs. Mapusaurus is played by Walking With Dinosaurs Giganotosaurus published by Draco ‪@dracowarrioranimations1239‬. Pterosaurus is played by Quetzalcoatlus and Argentinosaurus - by Puertosaurus(with slightly changed anatomy), both of which were ported from The Isle. The prehistoric bird and the dromeosaurid were ported from Saurian.
    Animal sounds are taken from videos by ‪@StudioMod‬ and from Jurassic World Evolution 2 aswell as other paleo-media.
    Narration is done by @jonwhitefm from fiverr

    Whoever created this Land of Giants version of the Giganotosaurus (I know it's now classified as the Mapusaurus) for SFM deserves an Oscar.

    • @djoniamman5318

      What you talking about. Giganotosaurus isn't valid anymore?

    • @kaijuar2003
      @kaijuar2003 9 месяцев назад +30

      @djoniamman5318 No, what they mean is that Giganotosaurus DIDN'T live at the same time Argentinosaurus did.
      Giganotosaurus lived alongside Andesaurus and an unnamed megasauropod that we know from just a set of footprints.
      Mapusaurus, on the other hand, DID live alongside Argentinosaurus. Therefore, we can definitely call the Giganotosaurus in Chased By Dinosaurs Mapusaurus since it's teally meant to be a Mapusaurus and not a Giganotosaurus.
      Giganotosaurus is still valid, it just didn't live at the same time Argentinosaurus existed.
      Edit: Someone corrected me about the megasauropod, we actually know it from fossil materials not footprints, my bad.

      @@kaijuar2003 The unnamed megasauropod you mentioned is known from fossil material. It just hasn't been thoroughly studied and named yet, as it was only found in 2021.
      The Giganotosaurus in Chased by Dinosaurs is more of a chimera really (as are quite a few WW creatures), combining the latter's larger size with Mapusaurus's coexistence with Argentinosaurus and hypothetical pack-hunting/mobbing behavior based on a multi-specimen bonebed.

    • @kavehaghayazdi2576
      @kavehaghayazdi2576 8 месяцев назад

      No dude, I mean Land of Giants doc Giganotosaurus is now actually classified as Mapusaurus because it didn't live with Argentinosaurus. @@djoniamman5318

    A criticism I have I'd that the animals featured seem to be somewhat shrink-wrapped, and that some textures on aerial shots are obviously repeated, but these are very small nitpicks at what looks like a magnificent series. Well done, and may fortune take you wondrous places.

    Something this clip got right, that even a lot of more modern paleo accurate attempts often overlook is the landscape. Its actually more accurate not having grass in the Mesozoic period. I distantly heard in a documentary that grass didn't evolve yet until after but its very common to still see grass fields in reconstructions, so this video showing just tress and a rocky ground, is good with the landscape accuracy for the time.
