This is a entry level position basically any one can apply. (driving record, criminal exception) How well you prove to do quality work, obey terrible hours, all weather late nights, and fight often terrible expectations... You love overtime.
Cable technicians right now starting at 20.50 hour and get about a 0.50-1.50 raise after training, I’m considering starting this as a career in the future also you get pretty good benefits, insurance, 401k with 6% match, and discounted cable and internet
Just like what the guy in the video says, that was on you. You should have focused on a maintenance position. No crazy customer's houses to go in. You don't have to worry about wiring done by ignorant people or electricians (yes, they are the same.) You pick from the list of calls, what is priority. They don't tell you how long it will take to do a job and how long the drive will be to the next one. Pay is more. Job is more secure. You get more respect because you can't be easily replaced.
@luisandrade9137 hey bro. I'm thinking of applying for Spectrum soon and really interested in being a Maintenance Technician. However, I was told that I have to start off as Field Technician first. I currently have 6 years of cabel experience working for a contractor
In my experience SOME maintenance techs arrive at their position just to be lazy. I have known some field techs that did terrible work at the houses they visited. They would also camp out of there jobs for extended periods which affects the work load for other techs in the area. Then when they become maintenance they complain about how busy they are, especially when they are called for a bucket assist. Not all techs are the same but there are many like this out there not just maintenance techs. Ive seen evidence of many field techs cheating their way up the NCTI progression tests. idiots actually open browser tabs on company TRACKED(down to the click of a mouse) office computers and typing in the ncti questions. sickening really. Just a title at that point. No real knowledge or experience. Some tech blow through the ncti courses too fast, with in a year. you need the field experience combined with the book knowledge to be a good tech other wise you will have a title of a tech 6 and perform as a tech 2. Food for though.😉😘
They are the worst ISP to work for. They only start you off at 19 an hour. Even if you have experience from other ISPs. They don't even have a union. Frontier Communcations, then At&t, then Cox and then Spectrum is at the bottom.
I started off at $22 as a FT1 within a year I reached FT5 making $34. This is unheard of in any job without a degree

Trust me, man I work at SPECTRUM and this job is actually pretty nutty. It seems like they hand out money out the booty hole sometimes.
