I love how this song is nearly the perfect segue between the music of the 50's and the 60's. You can hear the old sound of the 1950's in the lyrics and tempo but the new sound of the 1960's in the instrumental. It's a seemless blend of those two decades of song.
That unique sound, musictron, I think was way way way ahead of its time. Utterly blew my mind when I first heard it at 12 years of age. It still reverbs in my head each time I listen.
My grandma and the local time warp town of Elkhart Florida got me listening to this music. no one there has a car newer than 1965 and it was like living in the 50s - 60s, just without the racism.
wc96 just without the racism? so the only progrssive thing they latched on to was acceptance of blacks? hahahahahaha hahaha hahaha hahahahahaha. yeah sure
I just played this nice and loud, for fun and a good laugh, when my 13 year old granddaughter just walked in the door with her grandmother after running away 4 days ago.
I went to a 60s party with my grandma one day and I remember this song came on and I went out in the rain and started dancing with a few people and I still remember my grandma dancing with me
The lyrics are very simple but so piercing and devastating to the hearts. As to the voice and music, the greatest genius could not imagine more perfect ones to match them!
I was just 4 years old when this song was released. I fell in love with it, I guess, when American Graffiti came out. Even though AG took place before I understood about it, I have always enjoyed that movie and all of its music. Thank you (belatedly) George Lucas!!!

I had a long-distance relationship with a girl for 6 years. For 6 years she stood by my side despite me having Autism and Despite me having to battle colon cancer. I got to see her in person for my birthday which was the happiest day of my life. We were practically made for each other. But til January of 2019, she broke up with me because her friends told her lies about me which she believed. I still get dreams about us getting back together and waking up in tears because it was just that, a dream. I miss her so much.
I'm really sorry she shouldn't have beleved her crappy friends and I k ow autism is hard my little brother has it and once he got bullied for being "dumb" so I went and beat the kids up and they never bullied him again so autism can be hard and I'm very happy you survived cancer my cousin unfortunately didnt servive cancer... Good luck in life

I loved this song ever since I watched American Graffity the first time. Also enjoyed the modified version used as theme for Crimestory. Never seen Dexter.
I remember I watched American Graffiti, and I was like I love the sounds in this movie. So I looked it up, like the sound track and it came up with this song. Ever since then I have been obsessed with this song.
Thanks Kurt....more importantly Dex/Jim

I actually heard this song on the radio in the car yesterday with my dad, he's 72 and I'm 13, I really like Classic Rock
I used to listen to this with my dad all the time
How is your dad that much older
But this music is soo gooood
Same as me I heard it on the radio yesterday
Hope you were both rockin' . This song was ahead of it's time. Now it's timeless. Glad you like good ol' Rock n Roll.
I love this song you can just hear the pain and the honesty in Del Shannon's voice
The honesty of a creep that forced a woman to run away and obviously was not going to be found by this creep
What?!
Eh? You know it’s song lyrics right?
