I've sang this song to myself so many times since I first heard it. My older brother even ran a custom-rules RPG campaign where I played as a blind sail-maker with a motley crew who wound up catching the duck in a giant net and eventually killing it.
I think this is probably one of my favorite TLJ songs ever. I mean, I love 'em all but this one is sooo fun and makes me laugh every time. And I love the way you actually sing it. It sounds a little bit different than the first recordings, and it's absolutely perfect. For tonight, it helps me to find some more motivation to finish my work... Thanks guys !
I think this song makes me feel the happiest out of any songs you guys have performed It might just be the ridiculousness of it but it's an amazing song
My superpower is to make random passing-by driver in a car uncomfortable by a group of people following the driver by their intense gazes at one command. Also, this quacks were so clean. 11 out of 10 ducks would recommend! 🦆
This is my favourite version of this song I have ever heard, every time I hear it I can't help but smile and this just takes it up a notch! ADEQUATE! OCT 10TH!
*LYRICS - Moby Duck - The Longest Johns* After fourteen years I left the sea, for a life upon a lake. After all the storms I'd seen, I needed a good break. I thought still waters would mean peace for me, but that was a mistake… For the place I chose was bedeviled…by a giant evil drake. A mallard of such malice, twice the size of any man. A bill to give you nightmares and a monsterous wingspan. You cannot hope to fight it so avoid him if you can, that terrifying waterfoul, the beast beyond the dam! Row-ho Row-ho Row with all our might, row with harpoons loaded and spoiling for a fight. Row-ho Row-ho, and with any luck, we'll win the day and do away the dreaded Moby Duck! I'm not one for surrender, so a vengeful oath I swore. I gathered up me hearties like so many times before, we shod our ship with weapons and prepared to go to war! 'Til that fetid feathered fearsome flying duck will breathe no more! (Ho!) Row-ho! Row-ho! Row with all our might, row with harpoons loaded and spoiling for a fight. Row-ho, Row-ho, and with any luck, we'll win the day and do away the dreaded Moby Duck! There was bonnie brave Marie, who to her arms had waved goodbye. And handsome Jack whose duck-attack left him without an eye! The darby twins with one leg each on deck were standing by, only a couple dozen limbs between a crew of twenty-five. Row-ho! Row-ho! Row with all our might, row with harpoons loaded and spoiling for a fight. Row-ho, Row-ho, and with any luck, we'll win the day and do away the dreaded Moby Duck! The fight raged on for several hours, defend and then attack… With beatings from those wicked wings our boat began to crack… The beast reared up to finish the job, and with a mighty quack...! (QUACK!) I rammed my harpoon in his throat and made a tasty snack! Row-ho! Row-ho! Row us back to shore, we'll drag his broken body back and roast it on an oar. Row-ho, Row-ho, barbecue the beast, with hoisin sauce and pancakes, we will have the biggest feast! Row-ho! Row-ho! Row with all our might, we rowed 6with harpoons loaded and spoilin’ for a fight. Row-ho, Row-ho, we had all the luck, we won the day and did away the dreaded Moby Duck! We won the day and did away the dreaded Moby Duck! QUACK!
I like this version loads more than the album version... It just feels like the base and percussion are stronger with this live version and it really contributes to the overall sound and feel of the song. Plus it's such a treat to see my favorite musicians perform live, especially when you can plainly see they're having an absolute ball with it. And it's in Bristol! The hometown!🙌🙌 Love Robbie's energy as always. But really all of them do just a marvelous job performing live. Hope to see TLJ In 2024 when they come to the States, in Alexandria! Trust me that will be quite the highlight for me! 😁
Robbie, I can't tell if you're in the wrong business or the perfect business! You have such a fantastic dramatic flare you could have gone into theater! 😝
This is such a cool song, and funny and a song everyone can sing along to. Please do this song like you did the community version of the other song but kids addition. It would be such a hoot. Great job guys. 👏
They're coming they're coming! The British are coming! LOL for real they start their 2024 'Voyage' tour next month! 😃 They will start with shows in Europe then come here to US and Canada! 😃
Had a blast listening to this ! (And the other Made of Ale sessions ofc) Can't wait to see what the future holds for you all Hope the duck was good, sailors ! o7 😂
I never thought I'd see a sea shanty about a duck. I've seen this before and it still amazes me how this happened It's been two weeks since this came out, ignore comment?

It’s what it’s always wanted, but you can only capture live :)
This song is how I got my 6 year old daughter into shanties. Thanks chaps! At this rate she'll have a full beard & peg leg by the time she's 9.

Excellent! You guys truely are the greatest band this world has ever known!
You’re too kind :)
0:10 Dave, the problem with that idea is that you'd already written Bones in the Ocean, and I don't think you're gonna get any better than that.
This is my kayaking with my kids song 🤣 they absolutely love singing along with it while we paddle around the lake
"I can make a thusand people go "Quack!" what's your superpower?" Oh bless you and your beautiful soul Dave

Unintentional "crack". Heh.
