I wish I could order bulbs directly from Bulbi but we do not live in Europe. We have naturalized crocus, muscari, scilla, chronidoxia, species tulips, and other short early flowering bulbs in our lawn area around the house for a beautiful succession of flowers. They green up and flower before the lawn grasses begin and truly welcome spring for at least a month each year. They do not interfere with lawn mowing as they are done and have produced their seeds before the grasses need mowing. They also multiply over time. Easy to plant as they are small bulbs that require shallow planting in our hard clay soil with many tree roots within. Bee friendly, early supply of nector for insects and even the wild rabbits come to nibble on the crocus flowers for early spring nutritional needs after the long winter. Don't worry, the rabbits leave most of the flowers for our enjoyment too. Such a welcome site, here in northern Ontario, with snow banks along our drives usually taller than me each winter and winter temperatures often reaching lower than 20oC for prolonged periods. Spring melt and early flowers are natures gift to celebrate the transition of seasons.
You should offer a masterclass on shot composition, lighting, focus and storytelling. Seriously. Absolutely gorgeous cinematography...I am both jealous and impressed.

My favorite way to start my Sunday here in Québec is a good cup of coffee with your weekly video ❤️ as an anxious person I find your slowly but surely pace really soothing. Plus every shot is so beautiful it’s like a painting or a photographe one after the other. Thank you for sharing, have a great week 👋
Bertus, my heart was in my mouth when I saw you going up on the roof without a safety helmet. Please take more care of yourself! Wonderful views from up there, I must say :)
Beautiful autumn weather for these final outside activities. the meadow will be wonderful. We live at 7,000 feet elevation and visit a place in the close-by mountains every June - Hamilton Mesa. It is COVERDED with wild Iris and breathtakingly lovely. Those high mountain meadows of wildflowers are a special place and your home will be as well. 425 bulbs every year for two or three and you will be smiling widely every spring.
that's the plan! last year we planted 100 narcissi and 100 alliums, this year 400+ bulbs again and the next few falls i plan on planting more. we already have iris but would love to plant a few different colours of those too.
I just love watching how seamlessly you work together to accomplish tasks. I am also a gardener and have naturalized crocus in my lawn, so i look forward to seeing your flowering bulbs in the spring!!!! A wood stove will make a big difference to heat that space once you take the wall down between those rooms..... great progress!!!!
Watching your videos is the new way i start every Sunday morning.... It is so peaceful and calm the way you live and work.... an inspiration for us all. Wish i was there sometimes lending a hand.
Snow drops are one of my favourite flowers, so look forward to seeing them! Your wild flower meadow will be beautiful, and the bench around the tree perfect! Bertus on the roof was unnerving, but he's always so careful, I knew he'd be fine..the kittens have become friends, that's wonderful! ❤
Ciao Isis and Bertus, the flower garden is going to be so beautiful when everything grows and blooms, I love tree trunk seating, that is a perfect touch to the garden. Bertus well done on the touchup painting; it has to be hard on your neck looking up under the eaves. I am loving the interior plans; the roof is in beautiful condition. You have the most gorgeous views. Tanto amore da N.Y.
I'm glad that your sponsor for this video is so in line with your landscape and your lifestyle 🌷 - also happy that the cats have become friends - I would watch a whole hour of cat TV if the cast were Pelliccia and Flanella 🐈🐈⬛ and last but not least, bravo, Bertus!
Willie and I enjoyed the episode this morning very much. He watched the entire video after he saw the kitties 😂. I have very similar color stain on my shutters…like your choice! Bulbs are such fun surprises in the spring. I wish I had your soil. I have to use a pick axe to make a hole for a bulb and it is very hard work. I tried using a drill with a special attachment but it burned up the motor 😢. I do plant wildflower seeds that are especially suited for this part of Texas. I buy them from Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Texas. You might enjoy their website when you are taking a break. I too have a meadow I do not mow regularly and let it go naturally in the spring. It brings lots of joy! Your videos are so inspiring. I marvel at the things you two accomplish on your own. Until next week, blessings to you from Granbury, Texas.
This duo is fantastic, and they know what they are doing. Great craftsmanship and skills. Cats are adorable. Flowers will be divine next Spring. I am a devoted follower. Thank you :))
Wow!!
Suggestion: buy an auger and it attaches to your drill. Makes planting bulbs so fast and easy. You’re both so talented and love your kittens. Was so sad (as were you) when your cat went missing
'kinda scary though' 😂😂😂 Solid knots Isis, it would confuse me how you did it! Nice productive week, more and more like home. Nice to have two kittens ..... Rodents always an issue on big older properties. ♥️🇨🇦
Looking forward to seeing your bulbs in bloom in the spring. I too planted 400 tulips and 200 daffodils this year. 2025 will blooming awesome! Colorado Cherri
The gray days of winter approach as the landscape transforms into a tranquil, almost ethereal scene. The mountains, draped in a blanket of mist, exude a sense of stillness that reflects in you both, while the crisp air carries whispers of the snow to come. It’s a time when the vibrant colors of autumn fade, making way for seed preparation and the quieter beauty of your two housemates, inviting us into moments of reflection amidst your breathtaking surroundings.
Het zal vast een mooie bloemenpracht worden in de lente. Jammer dat we nog even geduld zullen moeten hebben om het te zien. Super dapper van Bertus!!! En wat fijn dat de poezendames het gezellig hebben samen… Tot volgende week!
I can’t wait for Sunday’s to watch your channel. It is always so interesting. I don’t know if you’re aware that outdoor cats have a shorter lifespan than indoors cats. I’m only saying this because you were so sad when your kitty never returned home. I’m glad to see both your kittens and are friends. Love you both.
Lovely video yet again! So nice to see you planting flowering bulbs, it should look amazing come spring next year! The weather was kind to you in this video, got plenty of work done to the roof, what a view we had from that vantage point! Nice to see your fur babies seem to have found a balance to their lives! Have a good dry week! ❤
Oh Isis, i worry about you getting on roof. My next door neighbor fell off steep roof and lived 3 days. I see you are careful but accidents happen. So enjoy your videos and always look forward to the next. Judy in Tn
I always planted my bulbs in Ontario Canada and the squirrels moved the crocus and muscari, especially. Eventually I gave up and just threw the bulbs on the ground and it was so fun to see where they chose. One year they carpeted the land beside my driveway so it was a lovely welcome. The dirt was awful and I never even would have tried. Not sure if you have any natural helpers. I’ve never seen anything but bunnies.
Thanks a lot for the bulb links! Ordered immediately. Congratulations for getting your 2 kittens adopting each other! It is not always as straightforward as Jackson Gslaxy tells us 😊.
nothing more satisfying than seeing ugly 1970s concrete chimneys being demolished! Unfortunately in the post-war period so many chimneys on old houses were replaced by those ugly and standardised ones...
From previous videos I learned of your strict building code restrictions. I wonder if they would permit you to put in some solar panels, perhaps placed to resemble window shutters on one of your exterior walls, to provide back up alternative power source for your property when there are power interruptions to your rural location and even for daily supplemental source of electricity. If it could be done on one side of your home to provide appearance of continuity, it would look good and from a distance, would appear to be shutters on your home, so as to preserve the illusion of authenticity. You could suggest your preference of which side to do but express your flexibility in doing this on an alternative side that would meet the building counsel's approval. With rural living, having back up sources of electricity during interruptions is so important as repairs to the network connections often are not prioritized for repairs.
Your outdoors are so beautiful! How lovely it is to eat outside. I was thinking of Alla and Sergi on Dreaming of a Chateau. (Lake Como) They have and outdoors kitchen and spend a lot of time eating and creating outside. Is that something you have considered? Outdoor kitchen? Thank you for another lovely vlog.
Since you're opening up the kitchen area, could you also remove the wall between the kitchen and the hallway, making that an even more open space? Is that wall load-bearing?
23:40 Did you say “mason” as in a masonry woodstove? I would LOVE to see you built some kind of rocket mass stove. A Finnish stove or a Russian bellstove. Bertus, that was very well done. Use of the ropes was like a pro. Excellent.
The cats are friends!!! :o)
Vedere i due gatti diventati amici non ha prezzo, bellissimi.
Very Brave Bertus!
I'm always so happy to see your new post come up. Like opening a wonderfull present😊😊Thank you, have a nice sunday. See you soon ❤🌸☘

Fitting roof tiles as the sun sets? Must be the most cinematic footage of fitting roof tiles ever!
❤️
That would definitely be outside of my comfort zone, too! Well done! Also lovely to see Pelliccia and Flanella getting along so well!
The tree area will look great come spring time.

Isis, you will have a sea of flowers in spring and it will be even more beautiful. Bertus👍💪 ! I see the cats have already got along🤗
Great progress before the winter! Funny how your kittens get along now.🙂
My thoughts of spring came flooding back watching you plant the bulbs, wonderful feeling thank you 😊

A great option for getting to those difficult spots, it will probably not be the last time you can use it.❤️
The rabbits will thank you for the tender shoots in the Spring! 😊
☺️
Good thing we don't have rabbits here 🙃
@ You’re lucky! Where I live I have to sprinkle cayenne pepper on them to stop the bunnies from eating them!
Breathtaking! Thank you!
Thank you. Awesome progress. Charlie, Maine, USA
Great job with taking down the chimney 👍🏻

through the little roof window that you see him go into just before our lunch 😊 nothing magical or complicated.

Is the roof not insulated at all? Would not that create condensation in the attic?
Intruiging , how did you get of the roof Bertus ?
