    Amusing how many have a problem with these types of cars. They are not an everyman or woman car, but there are people who have it to spend. I don't and I don't begrudge those that do. I am glad Jay shows the unusual. This show is about machines that go. So if someone brings an interesting car to him, he shows it. Keep up the good work and thanks Jay.

    • @TheBIGJake111
      @TheBIGJake111 9 лет назад +34

      cops give you more lee way in cars like this. They understand the cars is built to be enjoyed and know that it can at least handle well at speed. Cops are much more concerned about confused americans texting and driving while eating a big mac in a tahoe going 95 in the passing lane than an older guy out in his sports car. As long as you are driving in an atentive but fast manner (no lane splitting fast and furious bull) and avoid pedestrian crossing areas, cops will usually give you a warning in a sports car.

      I agree. Automobiles, especially ones like this are luxuries. Housing is not. I'm starting to rethink my opinions on these vehicles. I like jay, but he really has too many cars, and expends resources better used to help the average poor person get reliable transportation. I barely receive 35k from my veteran's pension, yet still able to provide about 5 vehicles to deserving individuals every year. I basically look on craigslist for broken cars, buy them for less than 1k, get them operable, safe and reliable and either donate to a veterans organization, or sell directly to people for the cost of the purchase and repairs. I basically live on the 18k left over each year. Furthermore, there is no reason any automobile manufacturer can not build a safe, reliable car that gets 70 miles a gallon for under 10k. No one really needs that much horsepower. Look at most of Europe. They drive small safe cars that get nearly double the mileage of the cars sold in the States.

    • @sporkeh90
      @sporkeh90 9 лет назад +8

      theedrstrangelove how is transportation not a luxury, maybe not in some parts of America but here in Europe it certainly is. Also you might enjoy helping people, it looks good on you too, but dont fault people for not having the same urges.

      +AdstarAPAD or at least a front half canopy that comes head level but stops. with the top open so the driver could escape in a rollover. it would protect the driver from flying debris coming at the front. for something to hit the driver it would have to come from the very top straight down. (impossible while moving)
      that way the driver can still escape. without having to worry about popping a full canopy off in a rollover.

      With all due respect to the performance of the BAC it is basically a formula 3 car with head and tail lights. It beats the P1 in cornering which makes it faster around some tracks with shorter straights and more twists.
      In a sanctioned race the P1 (and others like it) would be in a different class (GT) while the BAC would be in formula 3 with its single seat and no roof so the two would not compete against each other.
      That said it is an impressive vehicle.

      Yeah I know. Most people who work for a car manufacturing company automatically know what kind of breaks their car uses but this guy actually had to check.

      The I don't think jay sounded very knowledgeable in this vid either, was surprised at how the race wheel works, didn't know the word recumbent, had to ask what suspension was used when it's evident. Still love these vids though

    So for $200k I get a single seat F1 car that's street legal, less power/weight than an Ariel Atom & more expensive than one. Well I'm glad this thing transforms into an autobot butler that can autopilot when driving.
    Oh it can't? Well what a waste.

      it obviously had a lot more r&d go into it. the atom's design is so generic, almost like an old formula car, this car has an extremely unique look while being very functional.

    • @DirtDude117
      @DirtDude117 9 лет назад

      juffurey Well if the atom performs better then ???
      The Mono does look amazing though. It's a pedestrian F1 car! But paying 120k+ more than an Atom seems ridiculous
      But we are talking grown man go carts so it's all ridiculous.

    I'd love to have one of these.
    I have the 2.3 Duratec in a Focus, which this motor is based on. Even in stock form, it runs circles around the old Zetec. They also respond well to turbos. There are Foci running over 500 fwhp here in the states.
    The Mono is just begging for a turbo.

    The carbon fiber construction is awesome. It's a great experience to drive one of these. That being said, it's also very expensive to drive one of these. And it's slower than it's competition.
