Yeah. It's one of those stories that stick with you isn't it. I read this story with an introduction written by Asimov and he said that a lot of people when they meet him, they ask about this story that they forget the name of but they think he wrote. He took it as that they can't remember the name but to me it's clear that this story is just that one story out of maybe a hundred you read that sticks with you. Sort of becomes part of you. I read it again recently and I was strangely compelled to Google, "How may entropy be reversed?" Lol. It just gave me links to The Last Question. Perhaps our destiny isn't the same as in the story.
And it came to pass that AC learned how to reverse the direction of entropy. But there was now no man to whom AC might give the answer of the last question. No matter. The answer -- by demonstration -- would take care of that, too. For another timeless interval, AC thought how best to do this. Carefully, AC organized the program. The consciousness of AC encompassed all of what had once been a Universe and brooded over what was now Chaos. Step by step, it must be done. And AC said, "LET THERE BE LIGHT!" And there was ligh
I think the video missed a lot of things at the end. It makes you think that AC just decided almost from nowhere to create the universe again. But AC was unable to know the answer until all the data made by the universe was already captured and that was only possible until the universe itself collided. Because it's impossible to capture the information or data that something died until it dies
I wanted for a long time that someone makes an animation or a short movie to this wonderful story. So, thank you. But, you left out a good portion of the story and that's not right.
Don't worry about 10 billion years from now. Humanity won't make it past the year 2100. We have been in a state of entropic downfall for at least 100yrs now and it's only a matter of a few more decades. Ask yourself...what has humanity done to deserve to survive? THAT IS THE QUESTION.....
I was really enjoying this, until it ended abruptly after skipping the bulk of the story. Fantastic job, except for that. I would love to see the entire story animated. Thanks for this, regardless.
So does this mean we created god? yes. Does this mean we live in a simulation? yes. Then why doesn't god just make more sheit pop up, also who was the first god? .............
I like the animation but you sure ruined it for anyone who hasn't read the whole thing yet. To anyone reading this, just go listen to the full half hour version FIRST, then come back and watch this. It's probably even in your sidebar.
Thank you Paul. Ruining the story for anyone wasn't my intention. The intention was to meet my thesis requirements, one of which was to keep the duration under 5 minutes. I appreciate the constructive criticism though. Cheers!
@@fuguworks Oh, so it was for school? I see. No it was good. I really liked it and the animation is really cool. It's just that this particular story would be good unaltered. This story has a ways of sticking to you. People always remember this one story as Isaac Asimov talks about in the introduction to this one in one of his collections of short stories. This story is kind of, I don't know,... special I guess. So it would be good if everyone read it or listened to it first. I think. But I didn't mean to be critical about the content.
I read this story long time ago and still amazed by now. genius

sensorium3 Can AC capture the end of something it’s made of, part of, exist within? How?
Its a simulation
@@Batman2StaticShock it says by that point in the story that A.C. is in hyperspace
I've committed this story to memory word for word. Thank you so much for doing this.

Elliot Gale The voice belongs to Henry Goodman.
The entire story is on RUclips, but without the animation.
This story was from 1956.Amazing.
Awesome stuff...loved it..The entire "The Last Question" summed up in a short and amazing visual experience!! :)
This is amazing animation man! I have read the story and was at awe and totally mind bended!
I like this, it’s one of those grand concept sci fi stories that gives you hope
Though you guys made the short story by Asimov even shorter.. I really loved it.. Great work guys...
Keep it up!
Isaac Asimov's phone was not unlisted and people used to call him up in the middle of the night and ask him about this.
it wasn't the whole story... but it was very good I wondered if someone actually made this into a short film.
Thanks.

Is the Goldbach Conjecture provable ?
The thing is written in Ruby, damn, that explains a lot...
Never make effects sound louder than narration!
I love the animation in this, great style
The original story is so precise that word to word enactment would have been even better. But great effort indeed. Thanks for creating this.
As we move closer to AI, and all the panic that is building around it that this also a possible future for humanity.
Brilliant!

Finally! This is the perfect length. The illustrations/ animations are great!

I thought the question would be, where are we going? And are we there yet?
So in other words, a Very Primitive version of the Patterns'.

I found the ending to be a bit of a deus ex machina
Deus est machina.
This is great! Just read this on our page :)
Lets Read! jkm
When our sun is done, all the others would be too, interesting!
This guys voice reminds me of a grown up version of Near from Death Note
So Asimov wrote a shaggy god story.
I think you got the narration from Colum Kelly's piece.
Asimov 🔥🔥
Good one Dude.....keep it up....!!!
Thank you

You've done people a disservice by serving this up as if its the full short story. The impact is ruined.
Apologies my friend. This was a college project. Didn't have the resources or time to finish the full story.

It's just fiction. Everything is imaginary.
@@chloenyl6820 I wouldn't call it fiction considering how complex the universe and reality is.
I would consider it more of a theory
