Canadian Pacific Spiral Tunnels April 2014

Took a trip out to Calgary for SuperTrain and had time before the show to rail fan. Caught CP 8895 Leads an Eastbound freight train out of Field, B.C. through a short tunnel on its way to the Lower Spiral Tunnel. Second viewpoint is from down under the Highway Bridge where the train has exited the Lower Spiral Tunnel and is approaching the Upper tunnel. It took 13 minutes for the train to traverse between both of the video locations.

Great telephoto shots in the area, but definitely “no spiral tunnel”. I have hiked the area extensively, so have “a rough idea”, but only so, of where the shots were taken.

if you go to the CP access road beside the tunnel will they kick you out?

Noah S. There a good chance CP Police or the RCMP will be waiting for you to come back out the access road. I knew someone who got ticketed for doing that at the eastern portal of MacDonald Tunnel... train crew called it in and the RCMP was waiting for him at the entrance to the access road off the highway.
