Thank you for sharing this video. I'm in the process of planning this trip, myself - hopefully I'll be going at the end of October this year. I will be booking a single sleeper cabin; that size is perfect for me. :)
Nice consist. Usually, this train has limited service and a limited number of cars. Most of the time, no dome car, no snack bar, one diner with very limited menu, one sleeper, 2 day coaches...etc...
Did you purchase the economy or the sleeper class? I'm considering on going this trip but I'm not sure if the sleeper class if worth the money, if the economy class has all the basic amenities like a public shower and toilet then I'd rather get that.
This was part of a tour group. I believe I have the basic single sleeper compartment. I know there were super expensive ones in another part of the train. On another tour group trip on Via Rail they gave me a double that was larger. I didn't do any of the choosing.
The economy does not have a shower only toilet. If you can afford sleeper it's worth it, meals are included and shower is available. It's not as fancy as Canadian. It's a long ride up to Churchill.
Was a while back so don't remember exactly. It was an overnight (2 nights!) trip and the train goes very slow because the tracks are not that good. It was also many hours late departing out of Winnipeg.
These roomettes are smaller than Amtrak ones because they are intended for one person, not two. Amtrak did have ones like these in their sleepers that they inherited from other railroads in the beginning, but they've been retired.
I've ridden on this train and the Eurostar TGV and you can't really compare the two because they perform very different roles. The TGV is similar to the VIA trains in the Quebec-Windsor Corridor while this serves a number of remote communities along the way as well as tourists. I think the cars have stood up very well for 60 plus years.
This guy knows the least of anyone about the train...he's mis-identified so many things through the video.........needs to "get qualified" on what he's supposed to be talking about. Waste of time for all his mis-information
Thank You for the Video! It seems amazing! Greetings from Paderborn, Germany
Thanks for watching!
Iam gonna save up the money and do that hopefully around the end of the summer
Good luck!
Great video, exactly what I was wanting to watch!

Thank you
Going next year! Already booked!
How was it?
Slow, not crowded. Food was fine. Sorry for late reply.
I enjoyed that trip--now I don't actually have to go on that train myself.
THE POLAR EXPRESS
super...….looks like Via Rail provides the best of everything to Churchill for sure
Not sure if running anymore due to track washout.
Service has been back since 2018

Nice Video.Apart from your sleeper is there an option of just economy seat?
Yes, I believe so.
Or the original old skool name we called it the dome car back in 95
I took the easy route to Churchill... I flew in, but now I want to take the train.
On another trip to Churchill I also flew.
I've always wanted to take the train in winter

I'm from Toronto. Love to go by train. Kind of nice experience. How many hours from Winnipeg to Churchill? Thx

Is it accurate that this train suspended sleeper cars until 3/2021 due to covid ?
I don't know.
Now this would be the real polar express but with a CN/CP steam train instead of a diesel
That would have been nice.
Yeah
Did you see northern lights?
Not really. Full moon or overcast.
Anyone can use any of the public lavatorys on the train there's no men's room unless they making stupid changes
Smaller than Amtrak's Roomettes.

On a decrepit, 60 year old train. Try a TGV in France.
