    Would love to see the magic 350fps at a speed as no video has been done yet. Thank you Travis for your no bs approach. Cheers Victor

    I bought the Defiant 30, I'm not an Archery Pro, I've owned only a few bows and I just Hunt .. High Country Excalibur which was deadly accurate, Hoyt Katera which is my back up bow and now the Defiant 30, I have to agree the back wall on this Bow is awesome, I was getting 280 FPS with a 387 grain arrow 28.5 -70lbs it's blowing through my broad head target at the bullseye, I shot the chill before I bought this one, I couldn't get over the skinny handle on the Mathews or the wieght of the Halon. The guys that work in the Pro Shop all loved this Bow and they sell all the Big Names ... It seems really really quiet to me, I expect to get quite a body count with it... execellent Review BTW they didn't have the Turbo in stock but I am shooting the 30 really well

    I shot this Bow and I perfer the Nitrum. This bow has a real spongy draw cycle. It's all over the place. It's not quiter either. I shot them both one after another. Hoyt went backwards on this one IMO. This dude better practice with this bow a little bit more to his groups at 40 aren't going to sell me this bow. lol

    Hi Travis. what is the difference between the#2 and #3 cams for the defiant turbo. thanks

  • @JayN4GO
    @JayN4GO 8 лет назад

    Thanks so much Travis. The defiant turbo has a jumpy cam which turned me away from Mathews. I still think the c spyder turbo is king. BUT the defiant 30 is a great second choice. I like the Halon and the impulse as runners up. I'm going to play with the defiant 30 a little more but I think the cst will surpass it on speed. #1 Hoyt #2 elite #halon"only bc the grip is Awful". Lol jmho;)

      I meant the defiant 31. I dunno why I kept calling it the 30. Eek

    I have used the same arrowspeed devise that you are using in this video. I have the Carbon Spyder ZT Turbo and it said i was shooting 290-296 at 29" and 60# with a 353 grain arrow.........then shot it threw a real chronograph and got 3 arrow speeds: 308, 308, 309. I have a very hard time trusting the readings from the devise you used. It would be interesting to see what you get threw a real chrono.

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад

      +Jezzy Connair i Have shot my bow as well as the mathews and defiant through both a pro shoot through chrono and the hand held. the pro chrono seemed to give more consistent numbers but the speeds where the same. there is variance depending on where its held and how the readings that i give are within 3 feet per second.

    hey travis any chance you going to do a review on the nitrum 30?

  • @hunthealthy1018
    @hunthealthy1018 8 лет назад

    Travis, I just shot the Defiant and Defiant Turbo today and I found that the Defiant 30 had a better feel all around in an aluminum riser for me. Granted, I haven't had a chance to give the Carbon Defiant Turbo a go, but it just didn't feel very good to me, I noticed a little vibration after release, but didn't notice it in the Defiant 30. I currently shoot a 2015 Carbon Spyder Turbo and that thing feels dead in my hands at the shot. I just don't know if I can justify dropping some coin a Defiant right now because I wasn't "Wowed" you know? What are your thoughts?

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад

      +Chase H
      I agree that the defiant feels a little better all around on the draw cycle and shot then the turbo cam. I personally feel that the defiant series is smoother all around then the previous models. the Turbo is a more aggressive cam it is going to have a little more shock on the shot because your producing 15-20 ft per second more then the defiant 30. I also really prefer the longer string angle on the the new Hoyts it allows for good upright posture and a better peep angle for the majority of shooters. But touching on what you said if you shoot your last years model great and you where not wowed by it keep shooting what you have :) i shot the 2014 carbon spider turbo for the last two years because it has 80lbs option which i prefer. and there wasn't enough change the next year to justify a new bow. :) i did order a new carbon defiant turbo this year because i prefer the aggressive back wall it keeps me honest on pulling back tension and using good form and its within 4-5 ft per second of my 80lbs bow shooting a 465g arrow around 305 fps.

      The Number two cam is adjustable from 26" draw to a 28" draw a number 3 cam is adjustable from 28" draw to 30" draw.

      Travis Smith so just a question I have a 28 draw should I go with the #2 cam or #3 some say the #3 cam is the way to go what's your thoughts and I'm thinking of buying the turbo and one more question is the turbo good for 3d/ hunting or target.. thanks

    Hey Travis I saw you used the truefire chickwing release on all your bow reviews for hoyt. I was wondering what you thought of the release? Is it as good as truefire is claiming? thanks

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад

      +Ryan Zat I really like it. it does take some adjusting and getting used to if you are not used too using all of your fingers rather then just your index finger. I shoot it and have a spare for my backup. mine is adjusted as short as it will go so its a nice closing of my fist rather then being stretched to and barely getting finger over the trigger this eliminates torque.

    Halon 6 vs Defiant turbo!?!? Finally Mathews came up with their 2016, what do you think of them?

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад +1

      +Paul Boucher They are an awesome shooting bow. Personally i am going with the Defiant Turbo light and fast the defiant is a little louder then the halon 6 but little faster. i like the weight to speed ratio on the turbo over the halon. both shoot great and really feel sorry for the guys trying to decide between the two it will come down to what you personally group best and feel best about.

    awesome video! how was the back wall on the defiant turbo compared to last years model?

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад +1

      +Ryan Zat The back wall on the new hoyts is awesome!! they are SOLID i shot the new Halon by mathews yesterday with the rock mods and the Hoyts back wall is defiantly solider there is hardly any movement with the optional limb stop its 64th of an inch very minute. the turbo defiantly is a shooter and you have to keep some back tension or it seems to want to take off lol. but with keeping back tension it will help with holding on target and being a little stubblier aiming.

      +Travis Smith what did you think of the Halon?

    • @michiganoutdoorsman9865
      @michiganoutdoorsman9865 8 лет назад

      +George compared to the defiant

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад

      the back wall on the defiant Turbo is solid ! you have two options traditional hoyt style with cable stop and also limb stop available it does require some back pressure on the turbo because the cam wants to take off so you cannot relax which i prefer keeps you pulling back tension and helps steady aim.

    • @travthetrainer22
      @travthetrainer22  8 лет назад

      +skyheckler the valley is shorter and a little smoother the nit rum broke over a little hard in the last inch or so of the draw cycle. this years breaks over not as hard and seems to be in the last 3/4 -1/2 inch

      +Ragemutt I got one 2 days ago, it was only the second one that had been shipped to the dealer, I was on the list from OCT when they previewed. This is my first real bow my other was a 20yr old $100 walmart golden eagle bow. It's like going from a fat girl to a supermodel. At 70# I'm finding muscles I never use sitting at my desk. Being out of shape you feel the 70# pulling back but it seams smooth though. I really like it.

    you have awful form you shake to much when you pull the bow back

    • @brianv.5470
      @brianv.5470 8 лет назад +2

      So you are basing his form off of the bow shaking? I know you are just trolling around so here you go. His grip is excellent, especially since he isn't using a sling of any type. No torquing of any kind. Using back tension to release the arrow. Good anchor, stance and follow through. Based off your comment I would be willing to bet $$ this guy could out shoot you any day of the week. Plus, if you weren't aware, this isn't an instructional video, it's a review.

      +Brian V. exactly how can there be a decent review if he is awful and ya maybe with a 2000 dollar bow but my pse will out shoot him him any day with a girl holding it also I bet if me and this dude walked into a pawn shop or to a yard sale found some bow from the 90s and tuned it your self with your own tools I would still bust a nut on him and you so honestly I will be at the anthony lakes bow shoot this weekend in eastern oregon we can see who shoots better
