I just watched this entire video on my big screen TV. With a great sounding system. And talk about being blown away. If I were younger and not battling cancer, I'd have this keyboard setup tomorrow. These two synth geniuses bring a wealth of creativeness to the entire synthesizer world. Hats off to both of you. Can't wait to see and hear what you've got coming next, Anthony. You're the best!!😊
I’m laughing at myself for the number of times I’ve tried to wiggle a key to get expression like vibrato. Great demo and I’m only a few minutes into it. 😃👍
The amazing thing about the Continuum is that its first version has existed since 1999. Let that sink in. I've been using it only for 12 years, though. Risky to play it on stage, just the way I like it.
More awesomeness from Anthony's channel. I have barely gotten over last week with the GOAT. I'm a 70 year old guitarist.. and here I am saving up for a Korg ARP.. oh Anthony you are so inspirational.. Thank You
Get the Behringer 2600! I'm not kidding! For over 20 years I've been an avid HATER of Behringer gear, for it would explode at night without it even being plugged in (LOL!). They've 100% upped their game since 2015 or so and last year, I got the chance to buy a 2nd hand B-2600 and it blew me away! I was THÁT impressed.... with a, what I used to call, a "MEHringer"! I've bought their Model D and Pro 800 as well and they all sound incredible and most importantly: they still work and do the job! :D
These sounds totally reminds me of Vangelis. In some way he was super expressive with his synth sounds, maybe because he used the Yamaha CS-80 that offered more control over the notes that other synths of the era. Very enjoyable video!
It's kind of sad Vangelis past before he could witness what we have here today. He very much wanted this type of control to be available for musicians and lamented that the last great keyboard in his lifetime I think was the CS80.
This is super exciting and inspiring, cutting edge for sure. Getting Wendy Carlos/Clockwork Orange/Tron vibes early on in this video. Very nice. This is the perfect continuation from hanging at Mike Deans place with his freeforrm style. The best part here is the duet at the 19:00 mark where you two perform together... Magical. Its crazy to hear/witness the literal evolution of the sythesizer using The Moog 3C... Its kinda like time travel or something... its like that Moog was just waiting all this time for an expressive keyboard to be invented and connected to it.
brilliant. I think we are all just scratching the surface of the osmose as an instrument / controller. I just got one and my mind is exploding with ideas
These new keyboard controllers open up amazing new use cases for our analog gear. Thanks for this great overview, Anthony, Josh, and the whole crew involved behind the scenes! 👍
There was a Roland keyboard or controller that had aftertouch pressure sensitivity and you could wiggle the keys for vibrato back in the late 80s...I couldn't stop playing it in a music instrument store as a young teenage muso keyboardist...after a bit of research I have discovered it was called the A50 and A80...I love using the D-Beam controller that came out on some Roland synthesizors for after touch on lead which is why I got myself an A-49 controller even though it doesn't have many knobs or any sliders but what I wouldn't give for the amazing stuff the A50 was able to do, hoping these controllers aren't prohibitively expensive...
I’m blown away thinking about these synths that were designed decades ago, how they can connect to newly invented MPE keyboards and together create an experience that sounds completely new. Hats off to Haken for the CVC connective tissue, and to the two of you and Rob Rosen for collaborating to make this magic happen! Absolutely thrilling!!!
it brings me pure joy to see a guy with such incredible talent and credentials act like a kid in he candy store. Anthony we love you and what you do…keep ‘em coming and buy the Osmose and Continuum if you haven’t already. While not an Osmose, I’m thrilled by the polyAT in my Montage M8x.
This is the best demonstration of MPE controllers and analog synths I’ve ever seen, and probably the best ever made. You covered both the musical and the technical details with enough depth and clarity for anyone to follow along and fully understand how these technologies work together. Amazing! ❤
These are great examples of the fact that we may have another synthesizer renaissance soon! My mind is blown thinking about what new expressive advancements synthesists my have at their fingertips in the future.
I always wanted to try a Haken Continuum since I listened to Jordan Rudess playing one in 'Octavarium' by Dream Theater. I'm mainly a guitarist, but lately I'm becoming fascinated with the synth world. My RUclips algorithm is already skewed from how much I've binged on Anthony's videos this year :D
I have both of these man! I've been a customer of Haken Audio for very very long time. I've one of the very few only white continuum fingerboards! Maybe 15 years I've had the Haken Continuum CV too for the modular ❤❤
That was a great jam and proper musicians like you guys using the equipment not a hardware review with stale non melodic tests being performed . Loved it
This is a really cool expansion of what can be done with synths. After a few decades of attempts to reinvent synth controllers it turns out the most intuitive way to get a lot of expression is a regular piano keyboard with a few extra tricks. And I love the "only Anthony could pull this off" of having 4 2600s and a Moog modular being controlled by cutting edge tech.
This is such an excellent video - thank you! I had the chance to play around on the Osmose recently, and it was my first time experiencing MPE. I'm curious how the Roli Seaboards compare to the sound and feeling of the Osmose or Continuum. Has anyone had a chance to compare them?
Wow! Simply unbelievable! The music is breathtaking; best of both worlds between the analog sounds we love and so much expression!!! Thanks for showing how the control signals are patched in. I was really curious about that.
Man, I wish Bob Moog were still around to watch this video. I think he would have been excited to see it. I'd LOVE to have a Continuum, but just don't quite have the budget so far. I've managed to collect both a Linnstrument and an Osmose along the way though, so I'm happy enough - especially now Expressive E have brought out Noisy 2. But yeah, Continuum must be the ultimate in expressivity.
This is incredible. It’s almost like you can feel the sound as well as hear it. And that bottom one you can almost play it like a guitar gliding across the strings. Love it! Thanks for this:) God Bless! 🙌
Great stuff! Exciting to see you pushing the boundaries of both the possibilities of expression playing a keyboard and incorporating the analog world to new ways of playing experiences at the same time bringing the analog synthesis to a whole new level of musical and tactile expression and freeing it from pure sequencer slavery back in the hands of a soulful musician.. great times ahead!
Great to see this come together. Kudos - Anthony and Josh! Love the detailed discussion of how the patches were set up. There's nothing quite like a CVC paired with Osmose and Continuum for modular control.
Nicely done! The mpe to cvc converter is next level for bringing modern expression to vintage synths. Funny that this comes a day after Artuira’s Polybrute 12, bring more voices and even more expressions into the analog realm
Great review Anthony and a very exciting instrument indeed, finally have we ascended from a piano! I've been following your channel and your analysis of synths, sounds and gear. Best regards
I use my Roland AE-30 Aerophone Pro wind synth to control my analogue synths. It can send pitch, pitchbend, breath, elevation, tilt, and has a pressure sensitive thumb pad. I can configure those to send whichever MIDI CCs I like. I also have a CC to CV converter for semi/modular synths.
Thank you so much for tons of inspiration! Josh is a great player and also a good teacher; I‘d like him to appear in many more of your videos. I don‘t have any of your gear except one single BARP-2600, however some other mono and many poly synths - and an idea to achieve a similar result without CV/gate, CVC, patch cables, and an Osmose … :)
This was nice Anthony. Great that you went into some technical details along with the music demos. Looking forward to Rob Rosens take on all this. Cheers
Great video. . I can feel your passion. I think Josh def. would have deserved a slightly more impressive introduction. I`m so impressed with the great guests you have on your show. Thank you for sharing
The Osmose really is a game changer, got mine on release and I rarely touch other synths now! With my JD-XA, Synthstrom Deluge, and Osmose I think I have everything covered! Such a fantastic synth, the expression is best described as allowing keyboardists to express more akin to a guitarist. Takes a while to learn to play clean as it is very easy to pitch bend, but it also makes it sound more "authentic" as an instrument with its slightly off pitch control.
Now you really went over the top!! 3 Osmoses and a Continuum controlling your analog gear, that is far from modest 🙂This is a beautiful experiment and a very nice setup!! Now in part 2 of this video ;-), it would be interesting to examine "how much of these analog sounds" the Osmose would actually be capable of doing on its own.. fully digitally... I think the Haken Audio sound generation (with its Eagan Matrix) is one of the very few digital synths that is able to come close to this hugely interesting setup! IMO This MPE experiment really is at the forefront of expression (being analog or digital)! Thanx for this video!!
The osmose and continuum have sounds that are similar to what this big setup is generating imo. The best message from this vid is how the osmose or the continuum can bring new life to almost any synth. Even the ones that don't have cvc inputs. The osmose is a deep midi/mpe controller as well as a great synth on It's own.:)
This is absolutely awesome, such great sounds and improvisations, when and were can we listen to a live concert of you guys ? Thanks Anthony and Joshua !
I’ve always wanted a continuum but the Roli Seasboard Rise (the original, not the new iteration) was my first experience with MPE years ago and it’s been a wonderful journey of expression. Happy to see it expand out to new tech
I've done the five voice setup with Behringer modules and a seaboard in Multi-Mode. I didn't have control over individual filters with CV though, I only did voice/patch triggering without velocity or AT like an old fashioned mono synth, sort of my 5 voice BEM system. That CVC from Haken looks like something I may have to get so I can use my Osmose and ROLI to have more expressive MPE control. VERY COOL guys!!!!
I have seen a few demos' of the Osmose before but THIS!? Amazing Anthony! also when you were explaining patching then said "pretty simple really" I spat my beer! I appreciate the insight and can appreciate the tech though for me as a novice noodler these are God tier... Are keeping these in your setup Anthony? 🎶💯🖖
Anthony thank you for such a wonderful demonstrating such "human expression". I encourage anyone interested in more of this to seek out the late, Richard Lainhart (RIP). See what he was doing with the Continuum, CVC and Buchla. I feel compelled to footnote his work after watching this video.
Thanks so much for having me at your studio Anthony! It was such an honor to explore these amazing insturments with you 🙏.

I hope you win bro
I’m laughing at myself for the number of times I’ve tried to wiggle a key to get expression like vibrato. Great demo and I’m only a few minutes into it. 😃👍
yes its a very intuitive interface

Love Josh's playing style. Full of unexpected twists and turns and sudden rhapsodic ebullitions, grounded by cadences of yore.
Thank you so much for letting us dive deep into the pool of fresh, warm analogue goodness brought to a new dimension by glorious MPE.
Oh...that jam session was so RIGHT! Man, if I were a movie maker I'd be beating down your door to produce soundtracks! Good stuff!

incredible performance at 20:00+
The captions capturing "ohs" and "yous" is wild. Its so expressive its hearing actual voices O.O

Cutting edge. Thanks for not wrecking this content with fluff.

I love that you also shine the lights to the experts and specialists on the gear you review as well.
This channel spits out consistently amazing videos like it's nothing! You're going to have quite the subscriber count in the future!
The jam around the 19 min mark sounds like vintage Floyd. Top performance guys, bravo!
It's like adding the expressiveness of strings to a keyboard. Gamechanger.
Synthgasm! Next level, howto included. Can anyone beat it? Many thanks gentlemen

I would love to have on of those at my home studio. I wouldnt come out of a house for a year, im certain hehe.🎶☮
My Hydrasynth explorer has a nice intro feel to it, what you're playing sounds epic 🤘💀🍻🔥
ive been self learning keys after many years of self learning guitar, these videos really help untie the knots
Holy polysynth! That upper octave part at 7:23 is stunning
I always wanted to try a Haken Continuum since I listened to Jordan Rudess playing one in 'Octavarium' by Dream Theater.

4x 2600. V cool. Arturia polybrute 12 just entered the party
Definitely getting a CS-80 vibe to the sounds which is always a good thing. Really expanding the possibilities of older analog gear.
Fantastic. Great to see you guys together and hear the 4 synths all come to life through MPE.

that part from 18 to 22min sounds amazing! also well explained how you made the patches
Super cool! Thanks guys for taking time to put this together for everyone.
Awesome video! More great work from the AM channel!

This is just too cool. We really are in a new renaissance era of synthesis! Thank you so much for all the amazing and inspiring content Anthony!
Great stuff as always , Amazing sounds , very expressive and thought provoking. I need an Arp T shirt looks cool
Its really somthing else....the range of possible new sounds...and textures
This is a SUPER amazing episode😊
Great to see this come together. Kudos - Anthony and Josh! Love the detailed discussion of how the patches were set up. There's nothing quite like a CVC paired with Osmose and Continuum for modular control.

Those vibrato keys are out if this world ❤
AMAZING, thanks, great jam, so expressive. Thanks a lot Anthony, Josh and all the team!
this is what analog synths always should sound like. Its like a new dimension :D amazing!!
Amazing. I feel you have opened a universe of posibilites. Sound is spectacular. I am going to try and emulate your iedea. Thank you!!
Awesome video! So much control without the joystick and modulation wheel! Frees up so much for live playing and interaction!
Great review Anthony and a very exciting instrument indeed, finally have we ascended from a piano! I've been following your channel and your analysis of synths, sounds and gear. Best regards
This brought out the Tron like tones that Carlos attained occasionally in that score🙏👽✌️
I love when the development of new technology breathes life into old gear. ⚡️ Another brilliant video Anthony & co.! Thanks ❤
Super Super performances ,Excellent and informative is the patching /settings job ! Cheers from 🇮🇹
absolutely awesome application of these technologies guys thanks for sharing your inspiration and knowledge.
Thank you for explaining how these amazing keyboards work very interesting.
Fantastisch! Ich will das Continuum unbedingt haben! ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing how those analogue classics sound with MPE controllers.

This is incredible. I have an Osmose and had no idea you could get this wild with controlling multiple synths in this way!
REAL music being played on Anthony's channel, as always :) Someone send this man a PolyBrute 12.
Ugh, noooo! 😉
@@cortical1 what, no nicotine beige space heaters with a deluxe movable ashtray for you? 😄 I get it, I do.

I don’t know what to say… all the gems pop out in a mesmerizing soundscape never heard before. WoooW 😮😊❤

That was great that Anthony 👍👌
Nice to hear the Osmose controlling these analogue synths. Sounds great.
Wow!!!
Soo nice and beautifull sounds!!!
You are Greats!!

Beautiful!
I’d love to have a continuum, now that I have osmose. So many goosebumps given from these performances guys, fantastic!
