I run my Uniden R3 on a ram powerplate (even without a windscreen its stays on even at speeds over 160) , powered off a 12 volt lighter port that plugs into My battery tender cable(SAE connector), I just connect the two together before every ride. I use a Sena SM10 to transmit the signal to my Sena on my helmet. In the future I'm going to upgrade to the r4 so it can connect to my phone and just transmit that way with my music. My radar detector has never failed me and I don't think I'd be able to ride without it especially owning a supercharged bike like my ZH2.
I'm not a motorcycle rider, but this is a very interesting look at how things need to be handled differently here. I'm looking forward to the next installment. And I'm with DCFuild on audio reporting, I've never been able to figure that out successfully.
Fitting all of this on a Sport bike is 100xs harder. We don't have any of that extra space for anything. I'm in the beginning process now of researching and buying phone mount, x2 12v usb ports, radar mount, radar, visual alert light, laser jammer and a power distribution block to power everything. Glad to provide feedback when I finish.
I'm torn between the al priority or the adaptiv tpx as there is a full system that is detector + jammer + alert light + Bluetooth all plug and play compatible. Not sure I want to give up using a a V1 or redline 360 though.
Fitting it on a sport bike seems pointless. The way we've always done it is to use your eyes to spot danger and if you get lit up, twist the throttle. In more civilized areas, they won't even chase.
@hawk 7886 and when I was in my 20, that's what I lived by. Now in my mid 30s I have a whole lot more to loose if something goes wrong. Also I can assure you GSP, Cobb, Canton, and a few other surrounding counties are gonna chase. GSP recently posted a picture of one of their new challengers with a caption saying "still think you can out run us" or something along those lines. Idk. To each their own I guess. I know my v2+ JBv1 has saved me from the hassle of running 4 or 5 times in Canton alone.
@@Chaals Ive been researching into this for a minute, my plan is to try to basically velcro mine above my gauge cluster (I have a smoke visor so its not blocking a whole lot by being there) and then setting up a plug to my battery and buying an amazon hard plug from the radar to the usb plug
I've been trying to find a sleek setup to run a hardwired Uniden R8 with a Quadlock phone mount on my Yamaha R6. I want both devices to be mounted behind a windshield to protect from debris while being fully visible and not blocking my gauges, all while accommodating different riding positions. The windshield is only 8 inches wide, it's a big challenge.
We are planning to develop a motorcycle radar detector. Do you have any suggestions for us? We are using the frequency bands of car radar systems for this project.
@@MowerModdin The big technicality being it's technically illegal in a CMV to have a detector. If you're going to do it be sure it's rdd proof and mounted out of sight. Edit: To add I'd still be interested to see testing. For science. I bet getting a R7 or V1 that high in the air would net some pretty epic range detection on open highway. Laser jamming could get pretty difficult with all that surface area.
Well it didn't take long to outdate this video. I have now bought a Yamaha Tracer 9 GT and have started the install of the countermeasures I took off my old bike featured here. ruclips.net/video/PIX6p6Ko6wE/видео.html

Just get the DS1. Simple BT alerting. Visual alerting is useless on a motorcycle. Plug it into the 12 volt and piggy back phone right into RD cable. I average about 15,000 miles a year on the bike. This seems like a bunch wire and mess for nothing
Us sportbike guys need all the help we can get!
As a life long motorcycle rider. I can greatly appreciate this video.

Any progress on this front? Thinking of getting a radar detector but I'm afraid of weatherproofing a radar detector on a sport bike.

Great, informative video! I greatly appreciate it!! Thanks, guys!
As a fan of of countermeasures I love this but I dont know if I'm ready to go through all this on my Harley
Motorcycle vibration can damage phones with motion sensor cameras. Didn't know this until my iPhone X broke.
That’s why I’m lookin at getting quad lock’s mount w the suspension design

Where did you get the electricity buffer from
Very impressive 👍

Ah cool. What company are you with? If you’re looking for feedback and suggestions, you can start a thread here: www.rdforum.org/forums/55/
pretty cool. cable management is not the prettiest- but it beats getting a ticket.
I'm up in Washington vortex, ever want to test using a semi truck?
^ this. There are also a few technicalities in terms of commercial vehicles and radar detectors that I would be interested to learn about as well.

He could use a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver for the r7
Also curious

This only seems useful on something that has trouble outrunning a minivan, like a Harley.

I'm going to assume that running all that equipment is legal where this gentleman biker lives 🤔 as he putting a video out there for LEO to see
Correct :)
