Separate class for early finishers! OOOOOOOHHHHHH yeaaaaaaah! I like that idea. I teach 5 sections of middle school science and I am thinking about a separate class for self-paced projects and collaboration. I typically create a different GC for each section and will continue to do that... However, a separate class with ALL of my students will allow students who are not in the same section to collaborate on projects of their interest! I'm so glad I stuck around until the end of this video. This is a game changer!
Thanks! Here's a guide to the sections of the video. :) 1:20- Creating a Class 2:20- Adding Participants/Students 2:40- Joining a Class 3:20- Changing the Theme 4:09- Announcements and Attachments 4:45- Create Button (Creating Assignments, Quiz, Materials, Reuse Post) 6:30- Google Calendar 6:55- Assignment Ideas 7:48- People Tab 8:30- Grades Tab 9:00- Class Settings
Your tutorials have saved my life. 30+ years (K-6th) and didn't really use a lot of technology until March 2020. This year we are hybrid and using Google Classroom has pretty much changed the way I teach. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You are a lifesaver! I started using Google Classroom this year and received very little district training. Your tips and tricks will make my life easier, especially now that we are doing Distance Learning. I'm so glad I found you. Thank you!
Thank you so much for all your google classroom information. I start a new job using google classroom Monday and I feel more than ready from watching your videos.
You are a great teacher! I’m getting ready to homeschool my son and just discovered Google Classroom. Your videos are helping me learn how to set up and use it for just me and my son. I was overwhelmed by how to organize and communicate all this work for all his classes and assignments between my son and myself. Now I’m not nervous, but instead really excited. I think this is going to be a GREAT semester. Thank you!
You are AWESOME!!! Love all your VERY helpful tutorials and will share with all my colleagues. I teach elementary instrumental music (BAND) in Maryland. I was feeling quite overwhelmed, as many of us are now that we are on-line teaching during COVID shutdown, but your videos are positive, upbeat, and get right to the point. We all have SO much on our plate and are trying to quickly roll things out and set up our students for a great classroom experience. Now that I feel empowered through your videos dealing with the platform, I can spend more time actually planning and researching my curriculum and music specific goals...you are a LIFESAVER!!!
I am so grateful I found your channel! I’m a high school Secretary & I do the payroll 125 teachers & 50 classified staff. I wanted to make a Google Classroom to keep my payroll & teacher payroll for monthly Extra Duty/Stipend organization. Appreciate any tips you have for me. Thank you 🤓💕
Michelle, I am new to Google classroom, so really appreciate all your tips. You made everything seem possible. I really appreciate your time to teach the rest of us. I love all of your videos and will watch them all, if I can! Keep up the good work! With appreciation, Mrs. Thao
Tip #3 was a complete game changer for my COVID-19 e-learning families. It made everything easier to follow for even the tech challenged families. Thanks!
Thank your for these videos on Google Classroom. I am just now learning and implementing this platform through virtual/remote learning. Your videos have been so helpful!
Although I cannot use this for the purposes you do as I do not set assignments, it was very useful as a general tutorial on working towards creating a framework into which I can add activities for my students. I think your videos on how to use the Google Doc apps for teaching are closer to what I need, thanks.
Thanks for the video!! I personally knew most of this, but had no idea you could copy a class. That will come in handy in January when I get all new students (we are on a 4x4 block schedule in high school). I am so happy you made this video so I can share this with my less tech savvy colleagues rather than help them each and every time. Thank you!
Similar to your "Early Finishers" class, I have an "If you're done..." topic in the same classroom, so I don't lose students in the process of going from one google class to another. They just go to that section (same concept, different way to do it) Thank s a lot for those tutorials- they're great!
Love this video Michelle!! I’ve already shared it on my Facebook feed for all my teacher friends!! You nailed everything as always!! You have the “attention to detail” that all teachers should have!! Your tips are efficient and make total sense. You think of things that most of us wouldn’t even come up with!!
This video was AMAZING! I am using Google Classrooms for the first time in my 7-8 reading class and you had SO many great tips and tricks! I would love to see more Google tips and tricks you may have.
This is one of the most helpful videos I have watched in a LONG time! This is at least my third video by Pocketful Of Primary and I am hooked!!!! So appreciative!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!!
Thank You so much!!! We are going online since the virus. I was apprehensive about using Google Classroom. You have been so helpful, much better than the lady we had come to our school! Thank You!!!!
I love watching your videos because I’m going to be in 10th grade this school year and I really want to be a teacher and I really think this videos help me to see what to expect when being a teacher.
Thank you . I teach basic skills math and language arts in NJ, and will be entering the classroom teacher's google classroom to help the students that are struggling in grades 3-8 during our state lock down. This has been very helpful.
Loving these!!! I'm working on my teaching degree and your videos are my pick me up when I get discouraged! I can't wait to see how your classroom will come together this year
Thank you so much! Your videos are really helpful. Because of Covid-19 we are going to begin using Google Classroom as of April the 20th so I am using my holidays to learn as much as I can. Thank you very much for your time :)
Awesome! Thank you for all that you share with us. Can you do a video on creating a drag and drop slide? I’m a kindergarten teacher in NYC. This is my first time using google classroom and I’m interested in creating slides for my students that are interactive.
Thank you for these wonderful, easy to follow videos! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and insight. They are going to prove very handy and resourceful, especially with this shift in 'distance learning'.... keep them coming!! :) You are awesome!!
How cute are you and that megawatt smile! Thanks for the great tips, you make it look so easy. I'm looking forward to making these new technologies work for me.
Can you do a video on your favourite educational apps for students? I have a list of them, but I'm always curious to see what other teachers are using. :)
I heard theres one called pictoral, or something similiar, that scans a QR code to assigned students in the classroom. Depending if they hold the square and turn it will determine the letters a,b,c,d to choose an answer that you post on the board. You need only scan with your phone, the entire class holding up their cards, and it grades instantly!

Thank you so much! You make it sound so easy. What about for younger students who can't read or type yet? I teach first grade and we are just getting started with Google Classroom. Any ideas?
Hello there! First off, I want to thank you for all your dedication to us! I have relied on you for the past 3 years and I tell EVERYONE about your site! Everytime I need something, I go directly to YOU and I ALWAYS find what I'm looking for. You are truly making a difference. NOW, FOR MY ACTUAL QUESTION... I would lead a self-paced PD on Google Classroom twice now. If I "ARCHIVE" it, then next time I run it "MAKE A COPY" will it have no students? That's what I want. I saw someone else (why did I bother?! LOL) say to "RETURN ALL WORK" I don't really need to contact participants --nor confuse them-by returning any of their work. When I run the PD next, I just want to have the assignments there, and add teachers as they enroll to get started. Thanks again!
I like your video, the way you give the presentation it was clear cut and this was my new experience to use Google class. And I thank for the post you made.
Great video, very helpful! I have a question: if I create a classroom for myself to practice in, and I fill it as I would for a regular class of students, can I then copy it to my school's G-Suite? Thank you, looking forward to the next video!
Thank you for your videos! I have just added my bitmoji but then all my topics and class assignment icons have turned black instead of bright pink. How do I fix this?
Hi Michelle, Any chance you could post the notes on how to do these skills? Also, please slow down just a little and enlarge the view of the computer screen if possible. You are amazing. Thank you!
One more grading hack for Google Classroom to save time and provide better writing feedback, including speech-to-text, audio, and video: Search e-comments on the Chrome Web Store. Includes hundreds of customizable canned comments which identify, explain, and show students how to revise writing issues. So much faster and easier to use than the Google Classroom comment bank!
What is the best way to use Google Classroom as a Special Education Resource teacher? I teach all of the math and/or language curriculum for my students and the are in regular classes for the other subjects. Should I create my own class or be added as a teacher with their regular class?
Thanks for making this. I am diving into Google Classroom for the first time from quarantine. I need all the help I can get. Free lesson resources would be greatly appreciated!
