    • @Jill-d6c
      @Jill-d6c 8 месяцев назад

      “Lack of Resources what can you do,” you move to resources, you consider yourself a resource, take a course on the computer, at home or a library, turn the tv off, get a dumb job, walk to the job, let the husband take care of the baby in his off hours, so you can go out.
      Or don’t get pregnant with some bum who doesn’t stay around for his own kid. Save and get out of there, then get a better job but ALWAYS WORK. You say they’re black, more whites are poor and on welfare than blacks. But not as a %.
      I’m not talking to you personally, I’m answering the question generally. It’s a real easy answer. Only hard to put into practice due to years of not getting off the couch. Human beings have been doing this for thousands of years, that is, finding resources when resources aren’t under their nose.

    I lived in those same spartments in the 1980s while in the military when the area was extremely nice and quiet. I paid $350 per month in rent when the Cesery Company owned all of the apartments. When Cesery sold the apartments in the 1990s to another company they started accepting Section 8 applicants and that is when that area went down hill.

    This use to be my street. I lived around the corner next to the Catholic school. I use to walk down Justina road every day to walk to work. I never had to worry about my safety. This was in the 1980's. The little red painted store fronts were all filled up then. There was a 7-11 store, an excellent restaurant for breakfast and lunch, a laundromat, and a barber shop and more. The folks living on Justina rd and off of Justina were just lower working class with the goal, for most of us, was to improve our circumstances so we could move out of there. Which is exactly what my husband and I did after renting there for 4 years. What happened to Justina is: 1) the bridge tolls were removed from all bridges so then the poorer people moved into Arlington from downtown and northwest Jax. 2) The ancient HUD apartments were torn down across the bridge, dowtown, and all of the apartments in and around Justina became the new "projects." 3) Crime soared immediately upon the arrival of all of the welfare recipients as civic pride and civic duty disappeard completely. There were only supposed to be single Moms in these apartments yet young men were, and still are EVERYWHERE day and night. Trust me, they are NOT selling Tupperware to the residents. There was an old woman who lived on Justina across from the stores and her routine each day was to harrass the drug dealers who were ruining her community. After a couple of years of this lady protesting them, the drug dealers killed HER in a drive-by. A lady walking her grandson to school one morning was shot, but not killed, thankfully. There were and still are, dozens and dozens of shootings. The police here, JSO, had a sub station in one of the apartments right on Justina for a few years but eventually they left too. The elementary school on Justina rd was visited by George Bush the day before 911. Now, that school has 10 ft chain link fence around it to prevent theft of school property and to protect the students. There used to be, for decades, a trail from the back of the school through the neighborhood to the next main road, Rogero Rd. That trail has been closed to students because it's too dangerous for them to walk it. Girls were raped walking home from school. Grade school girls.Boys were introduced to drugs and recruited to sell them. The youth center next to the school on Justina has been closed due to active drug dealing on school property. So, this is an upfront and personal observation of this area from first hand experience. I now live 3 miles away but still attend the Catholic church at the north end of Justina rd. The Catholic school and Justina Rd elementary has had to close ao many times due to nearby gun shot fire, that the local news doesn't bother to cover it anymore. Now you know it all!

    I was stationed in Jacksonville at NAS Cecil fld back in 87. West side in the Confederate PT apartments off Blanding Blvd. I really loved living there going to Jax beach ⛱️🏖️, up n down 1-95 hitting beaches all way down to Miami. My apts had boat slips and rented canoes, zero entry pool n clubhouse for the adult side no kids and a really nice weight room. My apt had a direct river front view with benches under the trees to sit out n watch the sails boats on Saturday mornings and hot air balloons flying over

    I see a couple of people saying not to move to Jax but some people may not have a choice like myself. My job requires me to relocate periodically and next stop is Jax. I’ve done extensive research because I did hear about how Jacksonville FL is very ghetto and that’s just not my scene or lifestyle. I can assure you all who may have to be in Jax that there is more to Jax than the projects. I found a couple of gems on the east side of the river near San Marco. They also have a couple nice places near the St. John’s Town Center. Too, with it being a military town, you may be able to find a decent house to rent in the handful of subdivisions from a sailor who’s gone to their next location.

      I have lived all across America and in other countries. And the only bad thing about Jacksonville? Is you have to own a reliable car, because of the lack of public transportation. And Kat Williams is correct about all the projects being spread out over town. Jacksonville is a decent, and somewhat affordable place to live still.

    I personally could never live in a place like that. No matter where the ghetto was located in USA. High quality people, intelligent ones just don't live in places like that when they understand all that comes along with that environment and the mindset of the people living there. Anyone who has any respect for themselves and their children will do everything to not be there and put their kids at risk for the psychological trauma and hiddens dangerous that come from conditioning kids in that sort of environmental upbringing.
    It's at best domestic terrorism but black Americans call it black culture. I am not trying to look down on anyone but the fact remains I for myself as a black man don't belong in a place that toxic. Knowing several languages, having multicultural values, traditions, knowledge, interests, culinary skills and perspectives on the world nobody living there wouldn't even understand or knows about. I would definitely be an outcast.

    Well it’s false that Mexicans live in Jacksonville. Mexicas are mainly in the west part of the US. (Except for Chicago) The demographics of Jacksonville are are actually about 51% white 31% African American 10% Hispanic and about 5% Asian. But out of the 10%Hispanic population, most are Puerto Rican. They make about 7% of the Hispanics. And the other
    3% of the Hispanics are other. There’s actually less that 1% Mexicans here but I guess other races of people call ANY Hispanic person Mexican. It’s weird.

      I live in an Hispanic county here in Georgia and it’s actually the largest county of Hispanic people in Georgia, so I don’t know where you are getting this information from. Florida definitely has a large population of Hispanic people, so why would that be weird to see a Hispanic person in Jacksonville?🤔

      I been in the mandarin area about 15 yrs. Certain part of bay meadows has gone down hill (trash every where, violence and drug addicts).Let’s keep praying for our communities, God is able to deliver us all. Shalom!!!
