Tra i vari compositori , questo Requiem di J Kraus e' tra i piu' belli , per profondita' espressiva , originalita' e grazia di spirito..... e' molto bello
He was only 19 years old then. He did compose another requiem in 1792 - used for the furneral of King Gustav 3 af Sverige. Unfortunately the composer died later the same year, and this requiem was played in his own funeral. He is called "the swedish Mozart" because he did live most of his working life in Sweden - and lived almost at the same time of Mozart - 1756 - 92!!
This is the first time I've heard anything by Kraus! I must ask though: is this the entirety of the piece as the setting of the Dies Irae lacks movements for the Tuba Mirum, Rex Tremendae, etc?
@@JOINFIGHTAGAINSTPORN I agree. But you have to take into account that this is the work of an 18 year old law student who wrote this for the church of his remote hometown. To me this shows fresh and beautiful ideas combined with a youthful lack of skill. Kraus was to reach a completely different level of quality in the following years. I suggest you listen to his funeral symphony and cantata for Gustav III.
@@wurps1 In the 1833 biography by Fredrik Samuel Silfverstolpe, it says that his father (a lawman) was wrongfully judged and stalked for some amount of time - this was the last straw which made him abandon a career in law and pursue his talent in composition.

The lengthy Sequentia was not always set in its entirety. See for example Zelenka' s ZWV 46 & 48 requiems
@@sdzhchannel Zelenka is a whole different level of quality though!
