You just saved me from calling a professional to check on 2 hot rooms in my AZ house. The registers were restricting air flow! The rooms have already cooled down in 10 min. I could barely feel the air when I put my hand near the registers. Now I can feel the air sitting on the bed. Thank you!!
I removed my registers and can feel a waterfall of cool air pouring into the room. The farthest corner is 80 while the other corner on the same side is 77...but my thermostat is 74. 😆
Bruh is that why my room is always so damn hot? My room is _directly_ above the garage, you can hear it open and close from there.. Dammit of course I get the room with the worst heat :( I literally can't sleep at night, I'll take a cold shower, turn the ceiling fan on and the floor fan pointing towards me on max power, ice behind the fan, open windows, closed windows, I've tried everything. And it's honestly worse at night, too. I even take those melatonin pills and I can't go to sleep until like, 4 or 5 in the morning and I have to wake up at 7 for school. This is hell..
This happens even during the winter. It's currently 25° F outside where i live and my room feels like it's 80° F . Now you can imagine the hell I go through during the summer... Literally.
I live in Arizona and city I live in averages out to 110 degrees during the summer time. I know why my room is hotter than other rooms in the house. I always have my Dual monitors running as well as my pc and Xbox. So having an excessive amount of electronics running could be a huge factor for some people.
Every room in my house is comfortable in the summer except one bedroom which happens to be the farthest vent run from air handler. I can leave door open and that does help but when it's closed it gets stuffy pretty quick. I do have an inch undercut under the door and when it's closed I can feel air blowing out when AC is on. Do you think putting in a return grill in bottom of door would help?
I live in a 2150 sqft rental with 2 units. The house has a split floorplan. One unit is for the 3 bedrooms and living room and the other unit covers the master bedroom suite, laundry room and kitchen. The front of the house faces N and the back faces S. The 3 bedrooms are on the west side of the house and are in an L formation with the 1 bedroom at top of the L on the N side. The other 2 bedrooms are on the S side. The bedroom with only 1 wall to the outside facing S is 7 degrees hotter than the room on the NW walls of the house and 5 degrees hotter than the room with the SW walls. All the vents are at the same level through the house and placed close to the window of each room with 2 in the living room, 1 of which is by the window and one is in the middle of the house. We spend most of our time in the bedrooms, so we have closed the registers in the living room and the hottest bedroom, but this has not pushed more air into the coldest room. Why is the inside room so much hotter than the others? It's difficult to have the heater on because this one room gets so hot but then the coldest room gets too cold. Being that this is a rental, what can I do as a renter to help? Any help is appreciated!
I have a sub struck issue in my home. It’s a west facing bedroom with a pretty lrg window. This room was actually one of the coolest in the house. Because I had 3 trees in the side yard in FYI t if the window. But do to over pruning I list all of the trees! Now every summer I gripe about how the need to replace the darn trees!
Please i need help I bought a new home just march 2023 one floor 4 rooms master room very good but the other two not air flow at all . I writte warranty they came already three times fixing only one room the other not very good and master room now is not good .. but kitchen, and living room been nice now . I complain my master room is not good now. They said according with the company standar is good
I absolutely agree with the window issue...we're going through a bit of a heat wave in western Canada right now. I just taped up aluminum foil on the outside of some of the east facing windows (cardboard / blinds / curtains on the inside)....we open everything up at night, close them during the day. Our attic has 2in closed cell spray foam with 60 cm of cellulose. We also have a portable AC but I have to admit, it barely keeps up (it's working on about 750 sq ft main floor)....my husband thinks keeping the attic hatch open will help (to let hot air rise) but I think we need to minimize the total air volume that we're trying to cool with the portable AC...
What is so strange is once my son moved out of the hot room it was no longer hot ?!? I’m taking it’s not hot whatsoever now. Even when I leave the door closed all day !
I had my ducks cleaned and the guy recommended that he shouldn’t replace those L shape metal air balance flow things and now all the bedrooms seem hot. What can I do to fix the problem when I don’t understand what I’m looking for?
I just moved to AZ . I'm watching this for my apartment. As I have a One direct sunlight room. I think it was.the return. As I took it off and noticed a difference. But what else could it be if that doesn't fix it? (And I tried the other tidbits you provide, sunscreen, new air filter, wide ducts)
I know why one room got hotter. I had a 20ft tall bougainvillea blocking the western sun off of the block wall and I cut it down. Replaced it with a tree and as soon as it grows another couple of feet, will have no more heat problem. Also, it's the farthest room away from the thermostat. I really wish they would position thermostats near where people spend most of their time.
Guys please note from a home inspectors stand point, plants or trees that touch the home will be written up. Please do your research to save yourself a lot of work in the future when trying to sell your home. A good shade tree is great to have. But make sure it is far enough from the structure, plumbing, walkways etc.
@Jeff Zest I'm pretty sure if it crosses your property line you can cut back. But this depends on a lot. Hopefully they'd be kind enough to help you out at that point.
@@jasonvansleez802 Technically may need permission; regardless, appears unfair I need to fork over a few hundred dollars every year or two due to neighbors tree on both roof and side of house. Also tree hanging over fence to another neighbor, but not endangering my house. No, they would not help me out!
Other sites say potentially more insulation. Why is your advice any more credible? It could be each situation is unique, and you are not accounting for that.

We don’t have attics...
@@chuckschickbaldtacos yes, every house has an attic crawl space. It's where all the ductwork is.
KrissyKayIndigo 1111 nope
KrissyKayIndigo 1111 I fucken live in Tucson and own a house...there’s no crawl spaces and no attic
You must have a very old home then as all new builds have a crawl space for access. I'm in construction in the Phoenix metropolitan area

I’d recommend using a portable ac unit in your room or a window unit
You could put your bed sheets / blankets in the fridge / freezer to keep them cool

Thanks for the tip about the registers -- I didn't really know they had such things.
Been in tx 2 years and I appreciate this video.
I'm also in AZ and the summers are brutal. There's some great info here. What would you suggest for high flow registers? Thanks!

Yes it would help, as would installing a transfer grill above the door or jump duct in the ceiling

It is true about the ductwork design, there are so many beautiful homes the suck to live in because big contractors slap units in cheaply and quickly
How about sticking radiant barriers along the interior walls and ceilings of the hot room?

Does your interior door close by itself when the air comes on? Are your ducts located in the wall or ceiling?

You want to keep your condenser clear of any debris, plants etc. a dirty coil will cost you in the future.
