So many pianists today put extraordinary displays of their technique above musicality. That is far from the case for Ms. Miller. She approaches this very difficult piece with a beauty of phrasing and a sublime clarity that puts its technical mastery in a far secondary priority. Even Horowitz’s electrifying version (the original and benchmark) at times becomes muddied in its tangle of notes. Every note is beautifully articulated here! Brava!
She is really gifted! It's not only about technique, like most modern time "virtuosi" pianists. She has a deep understanding of what she plays and it's all about music. If she is able to keep the passion, she could well be the greatest pianist of our century... It's very good news for all those who love music! Keep the outstanding work Kristina!!
......I was fortunate to have been a friend of the Great Vladimir Horowitz. I used to take walks with him in the 1970's around New York City when I received my Masters in Piano at Juilliard.I can assure you that if you had played his Bizet Variations for him you would have immediately been asked to be a Student of his. I asked the Maestro about this amazing Piece that he arranged and rearranged throughout his career. He told me that it was his warm up piece and often would add a new section here and there for fun !......check out his rare 1957 Performance of this piece on RUclips...it is totally rearranged and the last 30 Seconds are beyond Words !....... Kristina...you are a Genius! you must get the World's Greatest Agent....and Pronto !....You deserve World acclaim !
Dear Alan, thank you so much for your kind words! I am very happy to read your comment and if Horowitz would be alive, it would be my dream to study with him! His is incredible! Big inspiration for all of us! Wish you a wonderful evening!
I ❤️ you completely! ( this & the Volodos Turkish March transcription are on my work table during the holiday break---oh & also Cziffra's Bumblebee & Tisch Trasch----love them all& YOU!) ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm always amazed when I see and hear a very talented musician like you Kristina who pass your life playing music do by others like this variation. You know why Horowitz was special ? Because he knew how to do that... I see in others videos that you play some Oscar Peterson solos note for note witch is ok for the technique but actually you see this are... improvisations... we want your versions of those tunes ! We want to hear your compositions, your improvisations !
Never heard this played so full of detail. WOW. And with such ease.
Spectacular, I heard every single note. My deepest compliments.
The most skilled and articulate performance I've heard of this virtuoso piece. Eleven out of ten.
