February 7th, 2021 will mark my 1-year anniversary with the Wavestate. I had pre-ordered it as soon as it was available and I received #187. So, I consider myself one of the first to own this magnificent beauty! I also own a Moog Grandmother, a Deepmind 12, and a Prophet DSI Rev2-16 that I use daily in my music studio. I have many other relic synths in storage like a Korg Triton and a Novation Supernova Kb, but my favorite one is the Wavestate. If I could only own one synth for the rest of my life there is no contest, it would be the Wavestate. I just wish that it had at least a 5-octave keyboard. That's a great list! But, you omitted 'Daylight Is Fading' which is one of my favorite ambient patches for ethereal beauty. Glad to see you using the joystick also. Most of the other videos ignore it. For ambient sounds, it helps to add a new dimension of possibilities. Thanks for your input it's helped me to discover a few new sounds that I'd overlooked. Another thing about the Wavestate that I really enjoy is that I can press just one key and it virtually comes alive with nuance and flavor that most other synths are not capable of without a lot of deep menu diving. The addition of the joystick twisting, crunching, morphing the sounds makes modulation possibilities nearly endless. The onboard special effects are great too. And it's all very intuitive right out of the box although it can get rather complex while menu diving. The Korg programmers outdid themselves with this one!
Hi sir, actually im searching for my first synth and im between the deepmind 6 and this one, which one would you recommend me? im looking for like that 70s prog rock sound but also some experimental ambient patches like the ones of this video. i would like to hear your opinion, thanks,.

Would be awesome to add your own wavetables and samples, for now I'll see what this little thing can do out of the box, but I'm happily surprised by it's power and complexity.
I haven’t heard one synthesizer cover so much sound in one pass and I have the prophet X , two different synthesizers and of course the prophet x can sound very good but this really creates big atmospheres
You can use a lot of the pads and softer leads to make ambient sounding patches, the ones coming from the factory are not necessarily labeled as ambient.
Egg-cellent ambient pads you're playing. I'd love to lay some ambient guitar over some of these pads. Next time you explore these put some drums mixes in to get a moving flow through space time.
I wonder how people judge the sound of a synthesizer they never played themselves through their computer speakers.....I own a wavestate and it sounds neither thin or cold, it simply sounds great. And it does stuff no other synth does.
Have to agree, it’s very unique and sounds great. The hydrasynth also sounds a bit harsh on youtube, but again in real life the top end is incredibly smooth, not harsh in the slightest. I was a bit concerned when I bought it but it’s silky smooth highs all the way which is great in a wavetable synth.

Sound creation will involve some menu diving yes, but that's understandable with the complexity of this thing, however performance is much less complicated with all the knobs and controls being on the front panel. It's not as bad as you think.
Dont be led to believe that the korg wavestate is UNPLAYABLE. it will indeed take many years , hardship, mental breakdown ,around the clock practice, questioning your musical ability, crushing your musical talent, NO stretch of the imagination. you see the engine is complex, complex to the point that the engineers overengineered the device then korg marketed the wavestate not for profit but to as they put it " to stump and annihilate the synth player into quitting" in other words korg lives for the negative reviews in online reviews or magazines or newspapers. they made the wavestate just for this purpose.

I have one and have definitely found it daunting. I think the menus could benefit from better UI. But once you get the hang of it it’s not so bad.
thanks. just bought a deepmind12 and am enjoying its complexity. cheers.
@@Mibbzz thank you. i have a new/old? deepmind12 and am struck by its complexity. cheers
@@blipblip88 awesome! I just bought a Poly D over a deepmind because I didn't want another complex synth lol! Enjoy!
Amazing device but from what i've heard it's not the most easy machine to learn. Is there someone who agrees or disagrees?
Yeah its complex, but its also very interesting and different from the usual synths.
I've been lusting after this synth for a while but the more I watch these demos on YT the more complex it seems.
@@architectofechoes4 I do agree it is complex but it has 2 modes. Vector and sample, sample can be used the old fashioned way and make great sounds.
@@jedisid I'm sure, despite my reservations that I will purchase this future classic!
This should be titled “Me Noodling on Korgs preset’s” I was expecting some original patches at least ?
Not showing any original patches here. Only what comes on the device.
