That 2nd fish release tape looked like you had second thoughts of letting it go. As the fish was almost off and away , your hand clearly tried to grab it again. What a lovely creek and lovely tape - Thank You for trekking through some testing surroundings to share your day.
haha Thank you. The thought of keeping it never once crossed my mind to be honest. Hopefully they can spawn and fill the creek with hundreds of little baby trout.
Good stuff. I bought some Strike Tiger orange soft plastics at the start of this season and have been waiting until May to give them a swim. Heading out today, I'll be happy if I have half as much luck as you, Robbie. 🎣
G’day Robbie 👍🏼. You are producing some lovely clear videos with that camera. That’s a nice little stream you were fishing in and full of surprises, lol. That first trout was so, so nice 👍🏼 mate , beautiful…. The second one was good too.
Awsome work. I was smashing them on the black/gold nymph and black caviar minows. Then the last 3 weeks nothing. Deffinately will give these a go. Need to break this drought
Thanks mate. That is exactly how my last week weeks have been. Amazing success on the black caviar, then nothing. It's like they change their colour preference at the flick of a switch.
Hi Robbie, Great result for effort mate. Im suspecting the same culprits that introduced brown trout also introduced blackberries, foxes, rabbits, carp & redfin? Atleast they got it right with brown trout.😂
Jeez Robbie your creeks up there are so easy to fish and access compared to the otways we have it tough down here it’s so thick with blackberries everywhere because no one fishing the streams down here much, anyways great vid Robbie
Thanks so much mate. We have our fair share of overgrown ones too don't you worry. LOL 😂😂 There's one that I fish occasionally that I nickname "The creek from hell". Haha
Thanks so much Mike. I am not sure. I know the song, it may well have been him. My whole area is paradise. haha I love where I live. I hope you are having a great week mate.
This type of fishing reminds me so much of my childhood in western Pennsylvania. We would follow these dinky little streams forever and pull monsters out of some pools.
Hi Chris, thank you so much for your generosity. 🙏🙏 I would absolutely love to go trout fishing in America some day. These small streams are the best, definitely my favourite way to fish for trout.
I’m from Australia, but I lived in western PA for a couple of years. I can tell you the stream fishing is very similar. You’d love it over there Robbie
Hi Robbie, your becoming a regular Indiana Jones, be careful us blokes that are over 110 kg plus are susceptible to slip and fall injuries. Beautiful brown trout with early season breeding colours. Well done.
Thanks so much mate. You are not wrong. I am the same weight now that I was 30 years ago, but I am almost 49 now. I was only 29 then and it is soooo much harder now. My balance is harder, falls hurt more, I get puffed easier. Losing weight is a constant battle.
Need to give up on the carbs. My mate is your age or older and is like a greyhound. Eats protein and vegetables. My neice is the size of a house and brings a bread loaf dip to Christmas lunch and eats it. I'm fat too. 😂
Hi Catherine, great question. I am not actually sure. Baitcaster reels don't have a clicker. I wonder if it is so that we can tell when the fish is pulling line off the reel? That would be my guess, but it is only a guess. I really do not know.
I have not gotten a brown yet this season. Only 4 trips out, wth good rainbows on tap, but not a sight of a brown. Might be a bit late in the season for them though. They do like it a little warmer than the 'Bows do.
hey where do you go to fish for rainbows? ive made several trips to eildon and nearby rivers (rubicon, steavenson) with no luck. Not even a sight of fish. Ive met couple of people there fishing too but they all have caught nothing. I thought these locations were hotspots for trouts.
@@koyokokura9140 I am in Canberra, mate. Getting heaps in the Monaro and Namadgi regions. My latest vid was a trip out on Monday, half a dozen nice fish. Anzac day I only got one, but she was 57 cm, so a nice fish.
@@AndrewFishman Oh Im definitely checking out those areas when i get the chance to! Moved to Melbourne lately and im still trying to figure things out. 57cm trout is defo bigger than my trout PB thats amazing!
@@koyokokura9140 It is definitely a nice fish. The creeks I fish hold many that size and bigger. I got a 50 the next trip, on Monday and the other 5 were all 40+. I love this time of year, the big fish start moving up the creeks and streams to spawn :D Happy times. Not always this easy, but when you find a few good creeks and work out the techniques, it is great fun.
Thanks Andy. It is really weird. Brown trout prefer slower, warmer stretches of streams that rainbow trout, but that is just a preference. In reality, rainbow trout have a higher tolerance for warmer water than browns do. This time of the year the browns are getting ready to spawn and start hitting lures out of aggression rather than hunger. They often escort lures from their pools without actually striking them. Rainbow trout will start all of this madness in a few weeks, near the end of the season as they tend to spawn 4 to 6 weeks later than brown trout do. I went trout fishing yesterday and only caught 1 brown. Next week when I head out I am going to target rainbows again.
Where you fishing at? Not the exact spot, but general area like; I fish a lot in Lorne, Torquay Victoria, Wingdang NSW. Is what I mean. I just want to know what tactics to use in areas. I live in Minyip Victoria, and fish a lot along the great ocean road in Victoria, and we have a few stocked trout ponds near my home. Thanks brother
Hey Catherine, it is always hard knowing where to start, The further downstream I walk the more water I get to fish. I walked down to a point where the creek flowed back into the forest and got really overgrown. Had I walked down any further it would have gotten harder to fish and I would have needed to get wet to wade through the deeper pools. So basically I got in where the easy bit stopped and the hard bit started. LOL
I have a creek vaguely similar in my area. Is it possible to catch fish there using worms or some bait ? Or would you not even try ? My creek has no trout - might not have many fish at all except maybe eels.
WOW Well done. 47cm is a lovely trout. I reckon the biggest of these two may have been just under 40. Big for such a tiny creek. The one that chased my lure out from under that tree looked a fair bit bigger though.
I love a feed of trout mate. Be size fisheries won't stock them into streams any more, I prefer to only take a couple each season. Hopefully one day they will be stocked again making them more sustainable to keep some for a feed.
Me hiking in: I'm going to start here. But I should move a bit to include that nice hole. Well that looks like a nice hole so lets grab that too. Half a kilometer later I start fishing then my ancient legs are out of gas till I get back to my car. But it is always worth it.
haha Yep, that is me through and through. LOL My legs are finding this type of fishing harder and harder. As the end of the day I always think "I will just fish one more pool". LOL And often end up miles from my car. haha
Brings back great memories of fishing expedition woth my late dad in the snowy mountains and Brindabellas around Canberra...thanks mate, awesome
Thanks for watching Jon. I'm glad I was able to dig up some great memories for you.

Loved that first follow Robbie - epic to watch. And scaling down a bank while hooked up. What a commotion indeed! Well done mate, hard work paid off!
Haha thanks buddy. Climbing down that bank was certainly a bit sketchy. LOL 😂😂
Magic stuff Robbie. What a reward with those 2 brownies!

Thanks mate, based on my experience in this video and the previous video, I would be using bright orange soft plastics.
Hello rob

Was it Phil Collins who sang " another day in paradise " 🤔

What a nice property! Why is trout fishing so slow at the moment? Is it not the best time of the year for it?

It's often temperamental at this time of the year. Today might be slow and tomorrow red hot.
