Pierre Cavalli - Uma Vitamina Faz Favor (2014)

Embark on a musical journey with "Uma Vitamina Faz Favor," a vibrant collection of Brazilian-tinged jazz and funk from the Swiss-Italian genius Pierre Cavalli. Originally recorded between 1972 and 1975, this album remained unreleased until 2014, when it was rediscovered and remastered, bringing to light Cavalli's exceptional fusion of bossa nova, jazz fusion, and easy listening.
Pierre Cavalli, a virtuoso guitarist and bassist, spent a year in Brazil in 1968, absorbing the country's rich musical heritage. Upon his return to Switzerland, he set to work on recordings that would capture his Brazilian impressions. Collaborating with the orchestras of Angel Pocho Gatti and Bruno Spoerri, Cavalli created an album full of dynamic rhythms and soulful melodies. "Uma Vitamina Faz Favor" showcases the guitarist's versatility, blending acoustic and electric guitars with Latin flutes, vibraphone, Fender Rhodes, and occasional vocals.
The album opens with "Possarinhos," a delightful bossa breakbeat tune that immediately sets the tone. Tracks like "Cachaça" and "Alegria" bring South American joy to life with Cavalli's uptempo guitar lines, while "Transmissão Mutàvel" and "Tranquilamente" offer laid-back, dreamy bossa novas. Each track is a testament to Cavalli's ability to fuse funk, jazz, and Latin influences into a cohesive, captivating sound.
Despite being recorded for local TV advertising and promotional purposes, these tracks were put in the vault after production. Thanks to the efforts of Nanda Cavalli and Bruno Spoerri, this lost treasure has been brought back to life, offering a glimpse into a unique fusion of European and South American musical traditions.
