I travelled over from Jersey to North Wales to do a couple of deejay slots at the Prestatyn Northern Soul Weekender March 2017. Here are some of the records that I played that I have not featured in previous play lists. Met up with old friends, some that I had not seen in decades!! Like Ian “PEP” Pereira and Neil Rushton plus Jersey regulars Simon Hunt , Yocky, Jools Metcalfe, Danny Clegg and Andy Newman and Prestatyn organisers John Poole, Kev Roberts and Richard Searling.
As with most of my play lists I try and include stuff that most deejays are not playing plus a smattering of old classics. There are few obscurities on European or South American labels and two or three one offs that you will not have seen before. Hope you like them and let me know what you think. Видеоклипы
Good work Sir !
thanks for this compilation. Some tunes i never heard. Sounds great. Bolton UK northern soul in Canada.
Another great set Chris, love every one you have put on RUclips. Nice to see you include the under-rated Barbara Lewis's' Pushin' A Good Thing', and as always there are a few tunes I haven't heard before. Really enjoyed hearing Harry and the Keyavas 'If This is Goodbye' for the first time. A class tune, for sure, and one that I'll have to track down. Please don't listen to miserable comments like drdavecolly's. Sounds like he'd only be happy of you trotted out the same old, same old songs, that a lot of the other DJ's play. KTF, Gaz
Fantastic playlist, Bobby Marin tracks brilliant, great finishing touch, thanks.
Fantastic and it's the first time I've actually heard the full tune of Barbara Jean English version of 'Chasing My Dreams All Over Town :) Thank you.

@@siobhanquinn2648 Hi SIobhan hows things!! Subbed and listening to your play list :)
"Gamble & Huff "always has been good tune if their involved...
ditto waesktf, its good to hear a dj play stuff that's not obvious [that might be easier at a weekender, where theres more fans eager to hear new tunes ? ] i've been into ns for 40+ years, and don't recall a few here :tim whitsett & vince Edwards for example, which I think are killer, great work, must do a weekender again!
Tightrope - was this the original or was that Inez & Charlie Fox?
Michael, Inez Foxx did the original vocal on this in 1967(with limited support from brother Charlie who wrote the tune). This version uses essentially the same backing track and the vocal overdub was recorded in 1967. Bobby Marin recorded widely throughout the 60's in the soul r&b style with his other group The Del-Chords as well as latin style boogaloo tunes with Joe Cuba, Tito Puente, Willie Rosario and Louie Ramirez. The other side of this disc features a great reworking of The Jive Five's Musicor recording "Crying Like A Baby" which I will probably put out on a later playlist. One thing that has puzzled me for a long time is the instrumental version of "Tightrope" that Kent's Ady Croasdell unearthed back in the late 80's is credited to Philly maestro Bobby Martin (with a "T") which seems a bit of a stretch to me. Perhaps it was Bobby Marin (without a "T") and his band that laid down the original track and the name on the original master tape box was misinterpreted by Ady and his team.
Thanks Chris. I remember seeing Inez and Charlie at the King Mojo Club in Sheffield years ago, she was great.

Loved the set but its sort of Northern Pop rather than Northern soul bar the classics, suppose us oldies had all the real MaCoy. KTF
