Day trip To Canterbury
If you are looking for a city break, take an hour train and explore the beautiful and medieval city of Canterbury.
1. Visit the local shops dotted around the cobbled streets with great high street brands, independent makers, designers and artists.
2. Relax on a lazy punt or historic boat trip in River Stour and sail through the city or simply walk along the river path. We booked our punting on arrival at Canterbury Punting Company. However, I would personally prefer a different tour because there was not much to see on the one we took. Probably a nature tour would feel different. You can also book in Canterbury Historic River Tours and Westgate Punts
3. Step into one of the Canterbury UNESCO World Heritage Sites , The Canterbury Cathedral. We paid £17 and bought the ticket on the site and valid for a year but if you have an English Heritage card, you can get in for free.
4. Don't miss a walk through the incredible riverside park in Westgate Gardens. Flowers bloom and burst into colours in Spring and Summer which makes perfect for a picturesque picnic and escape
5. Lastly, if you are looking for an asian cuisine, tantalise your taste buds by eating in Bangkok House Thai Restaurant. The food was tasty and of great value for its price.
