I’m pretty sure for animation, two seasons are greenlit ahead of release to compensate for the extensive amount of time animation production takes. They just announce it’s been “renewed for season 2” so they can stir up a press release. If the hate-watching resulted in anything it’d probably be a season 3, but don’t most people pirate animation nowadays?
More like they order 1 season, cut it in half, and then release it as two separate seasons so the platform doesn't have to re-negotiate contract prices with the show creators/staff (the S1 to S2 rate bump has been historically really impactful for shows before streaming, so this is yet another way Netflix, HBO, etc. can screw the creatives working for them).
@@Dlark17 true lol, they did this with the Cuphead Show recently. Mysteriously, they were able to pump out 2 seasons of content in under a year. Convenient!
As someone who knows a few artists that worked on this Velma, I can tell you that they made two seasons at the same time. S2 was already near completion by the time S1 was coming out.
@Missjunebugfreak yup. like father, like son. unsurprising that a man who receieved no consequences for murder would raise a man who gave no shits about harming women.
I thought Velma already had a season 2 confirmed before season 1 was released So maybe it wasn't the hate watchers. Also maybe still don't hate watch in most circumstances
So like, is this supposed to be a sequel to The Pope’s Exorcist, or is it just a really stupidly convenient coincidence that this is the second movie about exorcisms that Russell Crowe is starring in?
That's what I had thought, but no. According to Wikipedia, the actual Pope's Exorcist 2 (PE2 to fans) is in development. The Exorcism is an unrelated exorcist movie starring Russell Crowe as an exorcist.
The animation art direction itself looks good. Either the animators are getting paid proper money for their work or there's some passionate animators on the team that need to be working on better projects!
I was gonna say!! everything else is still awful, but I noticed tons of improvement with that and went hmm! The colors aren't half bad too in some scenes, I really dig the green/cyan. But nothing can save those awful jokes lol
For The Exorcism, the premise seemed like it would do something interesting with a film set being haunted by a demon, that could have been something fun and refreshing with meta commentary, but then the trailer just falls into the same boring demonic possession of a parent or child primarily in a home. Looks very boring, not scary or fun.
So John Landis can still get a job on big budget movies, even though the first thing that appears if you google his name is "the twilight zone incident". Bruh
It always seems like it is an average build civilian adult or child who get posessed. If a demon wants to wreck some havoc they should possess a big buff guy, soldier, cop, politician.
This has a chance to be funny if it goes over the top with the silliness. We reached a point in the culture that most people don't really care about religion. The original Exorcist movie also relied (at least for its financial success) on people who really took those things seriously and they believed that the Devil is literal like in the movie it is literal.
People hatetweeting about Velma Season 2 is also free promotion but people kept doing it while calling out others for hatewatching Season 2 into existence.
Does anybody know what "startup founder with a weird voice" is referring to? It feels like I'd have to be in a really specific bubble to get that joke. That's this show in a nutshell.
Elizabeth Holmes the founder of Theranos. She would put on this strange, deep voice and wear a turtle neck to look like Steve jobs. Her entire company turned out to be a scam.
Unfortunately my parents unironically like the show. Scooby Doo has been a big part of my childhood, so hearing that they actually enjoy this bastardized version of it makes me sad.

I'm really tired of ghost movies where the main character has some sort of mental condition that makes everyone around them dismiss the ghost stuff until it's too late.

I'm not sure if Velma got a second season because people hate watched it, I think that even before the first season came out they already greenlit 2 seasons of this show (because that is how the show was produced i think)
yeah, “season 2” was already well into production as the first season was being released. it’s basically one season cut into two parts, production-wise
The show getting a season 2 is actually a lot worse. The studio paid them to make one season, then split it into two. Effectively screwing them over due to paying for only one season and creating artificial curiosity for people who are sitting on the fence; as a show getting a second season tends to suggest that it was good enough that it might be worth a try.

This is why a lot of cartoon intro sequences have clips that don't appear in the show until years later.

Watching Velma feels like an Exorcism
It's cheaper to order seasons in a bundle instead of one at a time.
Velma is a poor man's Venture Brothers
I guess even the cheap Exorcist ripoffs all had someone who could come up with something better then The Exorcism for the name.
The Exorcism, like its trailer will rely solely on violin and drum stringers for their jump scares. This is the 'horror' we get anymore.

How could Crowe be involved in a new exorcism movie that isn't Pope's Exorcist 2?
Is there a reason behind this media tho? HBO also made Santa Inc and it got a similar reaction. Is bad publicity truly good publicity?

Infinity Train and Final Space got canceled, and yet Velma continued.
Also they're doing a Kite-Man series.
Same with Captain Fall 😔
Anytime a bad animated show comes out someone mentions infinity train 😂 velma sucks but you gotta just get over it at this point.

Velma season 2 was greenlit before season 1 even aired. It’s actually already available on max, because even WB knows it’s a giant pile of dogshit.
