The tie breaker was about murder. If Jane lost, it would bring dishonor upon her house.
Isn't that just normal Hermione? After all, when Hermione needed to break Snape's eye contact because of the cursed broom in Philospher's Stone, she set him on fire. She could have just made a loud noise to distract him. Set the stand on fire. But no, she torched a professor.
Which is exactly what Jane would have done.

I love how when Jane suggests a team-up you know she'll probably stab Andy in the back, but you can hear it in Andy's voice that he's planning to cross her, while Jane's bloody obvious about it. I like to imagine she didn't notice.
