I am 100% the target audience for this.
I worked for Clays of Bungay (uk) as a bindery tradesman and worked on a 4 trimmer binding line, 24 box gatherer , 2 splitting saws etc. we printed and bound 126000 Harry Potter books in an 8 hour shift so 50000 in a day is no big deal. The line did over 2 million books a week and none of us broke into a sweat

Great insight, I am actually surprised that there is still some manual labor in this process, such as removing the cuts and moving materials between machines. I would have assumed that all of these parts could be automated, but I guess it is very hard to do, even on such a massive scale

Nice video. I worked in the printing industry for around 12 years. Newspapers, magazines, books, ads, things like this. I was an electrical and electronics repairman. It was very interesting and exciting work.

I did book printing for Microsoft in the 90s. We ran everything on web presses. Came out of the press folded into 32 page sigs ready to go directly to perfect binding
Not that amazing. I was a cutter operator (seen at 4:35) in a bindery over 30 years ago. 72-inch blade, 2nd shift. My half-sheeting quota for the folders was 16,000 sheets an hour. There were 6 Heidelberg offset presses handling 50x38 inch sheets running full tilt on quad shifts (4 12s per week to get work done on weekends without paying OT). There were 4 of these binderies within 10 miles of each other. Why? College town, pre-internet, producing textbooks.
