This is the best review I've found of this device because it answers all the questions they come so close to answering but don't on the actual zoom channel. As soon as I finish this video I went online and got myself one because it'll solve all the problems I'm having thank you! You are breath of fresh air that saved me 400 bucks for more expensive solution.
Excellent video! We are using a pair of these cameras to record our band performances to upload to YT. Your video helped answer a lot of our questions about this device. Keep on keeping on man.
Great review. I have the old model and its a great little camera. How about using as a webcam. The resolution is better on the 4K or for streaming its still HD? Cheers
This is a great video. You provide better information than Zoon does. I am looking at this for streaming but I had questions about video streaming. The company only specifies the 720p presumably via USB. You indicate that it will do 1080p via HDMI. I will be looking at this video again when I get the camera and am working on how to set it up. Thank you.
Just to further clarify, it will do 1080p - and probably up to 4K - via an HDMI *capture device*, NOT an HDMI port on your computer. You need a capture card that transfer the full HS signal to USB (there are 1080p and 4K models). However this will you up for 100$ overcost... hopefully they can fix that in future updates cause it should at least output 1080p if not capable of outputting full 4K resolution through a regular USB port.
@@ParaholiX yeah! Thanks to you, I'm meeting someone later today to buy one I found on Facebook Marketplace! Was considering getting a GoPro but evps are probably my favorite evidence so I wanted something with a great mic!
We always planned on using them if we had continued podcasting and was gonna film it for RUclips. It would definitely work for that, but I also think it’s Wi-Fi compatible? The video and audio on those cameras are really good, so if you’re looking to do a video podcast and then upload it to RUclips definitely! We don’t have a tech guy anymore so I don’t know much about this kind of stuff. Honestly that’s about the extent of my knowledge😅 I hope that helps.
Not sure I know the newer iPhones have some pretty good video I would say it’s at least as good as that may be better but the audio definitely is better!
Hey, great review, very informative. Can I input a mic through the Q2n input and output sound to another camcorder through the headphones output? Also, can I use as webcam directly to RUclips? Will the video and audio coming through to RUclips be in sync? I hear there is a delay maybe.
As for input a mic and output through the headphone jack yes you can. You'll have to play around with mic sensitivity settings as well as headphone jack volume out though. Using it for YT may be a possibility but only through OBS or something like that. My OBS test there was a slight audio delay but you can set an offset for that in OBS.. It's a pain in the butt though. Also, as a webcam it maxes out at 720p unless you HDMI out into a capture device and go that route.
I was very excited to take delivery of one of these a few weeks ago but the video quality from my unit is in no way comparable to yours at 5:57. What scene setting is that? The amount of noise I'm getting is making the results unusable. Sound is great for my purposes but video not even close to acceptable. Thanks in advance if you can make some constructive suggestions for me on improving the video quality.
Dance Club. Just make sure you adjust the video quality on the side buttons. Not sure what the default is but I prefer 1080p/60fps. I also use the lens hood to diffuse lens glare from overhead lighting. I am using 3 CFL bulbs that output 100w as well. The further away your subject is, the blurrier they will be since this has a fixed focus lens. It seems to be focused for a sharp image on close subjects. Great for vloggers but also needs good lighting. I also use a Sandisk 4K capable SD card. Not sure if that makes a difference for 1080p/60fps content though.
HI, very interesting video. Just a question about external input. It's possible to record audio from a stereo line signal (es. A mixer master output) during video recording? Thanks for your help.
Actually I have a portable audio mixer I by Comica and that’s exactly what I do. Because we now use two sets of the Rode Wireless Go so I needed a mixer so I wouldn’t be using a bunch of splitters and I output from the mixers stereo 3.5mm jack and into the “Mic Input” of the Zoom. Just note that the gain dial of the Zoom also effects the Mic input as well.
@@ParaholiX Thank you for your quick response. I picked up a SanDisk 256 GB yesterday. Going to shoot the band on Monday. I’m excited to see I can do to build content for our website and social media.
Wld you happen to know how do I upload videos from my Q2N-4K to my Chromebook? I am able to put it on the Chrome, but after that it is as if it isn't even there when I try to upload. Do you have any suggestions as to how I should go about it. Thanks
Thanks for the video! Just got one of these today, I love it but am noticing I can't get the audio quite as high as I'd like after recording. Are there any tricks to getting higher volume? I put the output up to 30 on the device. Have the input up to about 7 before it starts clipping. Also having troubles using this as webcam with Windows 10 if you know anything about that.
Be sure to turn off an audio scene settings so the audio gain knob will function. It shuts off with any audio scene turned on. If you’re using the headphone out jack into another source to record audio then check the input settings on the device it’s plugged into. Computer etc.. I’ve only tested with OBS and you’ll need to update the firmware if you have any issues and since you’re using windows you may need to update your audio codecs or simply lower the audio quality on the Zoom below the highest setting. This is assuming you’re not getting any sound at all. Hope this helps.
@@ParaholiX is there any way to bring up the audio post-recording? What I'm noticing is even at input level 8 where the audio is clipping as I record it that my cellphone gets louder audio. Camera gets more detail but quieter than my phone, A/B'd them from same distance and performance
Oliver Hanfmann Not sure what phone you have but we use iPhones and iPad for editing through the iMovie app and you can up the audio up to 500% in that app assuming you’re recording video that is. There’s free programs for Windows like Audacity or WAVPad which do audio editing like that
Nice review. I am going to try and get the 4K model this year. QUESTION: What lens replacement would you recommend for full spectrum modding the Q2N 4K? An SJ4000 lens or is there something sharper? Thanks.
I haven't tried to mod the 4K yet, not sure if I am since I plan on using it primarily for reviews and gaming PIP content. It has a 150 degree lens but I'm wondering if they went with the 150 because the outer ring that attaches the lens hood. Because if we used a 160 degree lens, I think that you may see the ring around the lens which allows the hood to attach, or you'll see the lens hood in the video. I'm not sure and I didn't see an easy way (yet) to remove the outer lens ring cover. One thing that has me slightly boggled is that the 150 lens seems to be wider than the 170 lens replacement I used in the original Q2n or at least the same. If I were to try a replacement lens, I'd go with a 170 SJCAM. If that didn't work out I'd use the original Q2n 160 lens and mod that before attempting to mod the Q2n-4K lens just in case..
Thanks for the indepth look. I just bought it and waiting to play with it. Question for ya, how long does that GoPro battery last over a pair of good AA batteries (Duracell or Energizer)? Thank you!
The gopro battery bank only dropped one bar after using the camera for about 3 hours. I don't know if it was close to dropping another bar but the bank is 6,000mah capacity. I wouldn't suggest using AA unless you really have to so then I'd recommend Energizer Lithium AA as they'll get you 4hrs of 1080p/30fps with max audio. Any other will get a max of 1.5-2hrs. Cheapies around 45min-1hr. I don't see your other question as it's not here and the notification bell doesn't display it in it's entirety. I haven't tested different FOV because its really just a digital crop somewhere after the initial lens wide correction selection.
Thanks. I actually have 2 GoPro batteries that I've never used. I have 4 gopros that I wish I could be refunded for. Hoping the q2n4k has less issues with stopping with errors. Too much to type but I don't buy cheap and have 22 sdcards over the last two years in trying to get crap to work. As for my other question, I edited my comment. I have 12 channels, mostly in doing photoshop, after effects and aviation tutorials. I will give you some advice, and that's not to use that bell. It's beta (more like alpha). I never use it anyway, other than in the old way and then go see what is actually in the comment due to edits or the bell cutting things off. I tried a couple times and the person didn't have any edits but it appeared cut off to me and my reply sounded like a morons. Anywho, my other question was withdrawn almost immediately after posting because it was asking about the lighting scenes. I then found your video on lighting and although it wasn't exactly what I was looking for it did answer the basics of my question. I'll be hopefully putting my own to the test tomorrow. Now I just need to find my cables for those batteries and get ready to use them. Thanks again.
Does anybody know if the mic is like the H2N? Does it record from both sides, or just the front? Like could you do interview type stuff with the audio...SBN RESONATE

For me it seems much grainier during playback on my computer. My computer has a 1080p screen but it only displays my videos in 720p using QuickTime on my MacBook from 2015. I found that once they’re on YT, they look much clearer. It also looks very clear in 4K mode when connected to my 4K TV. We don’t record in 4K but I modify the lenses to a 170 degree and use 4K on my TV to refocus the replacement lens using the HDMI out.
