As a Sailing lover, I watched this video with tears of happiness... This forgotten beauty waited long enough to be loved again... ...Thank You...for saving her...
Still remember the day Dan and I watched you come in to Riverside on that boat almost 4 years ago 😆it wasn't too long after we first splashed Uma. What a transformation! Alma looks amazing now! Excited to catch up somewhere out there ☺
I know it seems not so long ago! It is crazy to look back to where we all started from and see how far our boats have come! Thanks guys we are grateful to have friends like you. Excited for that too and for you to meet Aria! 😊❤️
This is exactly the type of YT video I respect and enjoy. When you both knew that this yacht was right for you, the one of your dreams, you committed yourselves to making it so. In appreciating the sheer beauty of the yacht, you've put your hearts and souls into her, together with every minute and every dollar you could spare. With your love, care and dedication, you have given new life to your beautiful sailing home which now shines as a beacon, reflecting your absolute commitment to make her the best she could be. I look forward to seeing your videography and appreciate you taking the time out to document your intensive restoration and refit. Subscribed!
Thanks so much Felix for watching and taking the time to write such a wonderful comment! In this comment, you do a perfect summary of what we did over these 5 years. It is amazing that by sharing our story we have such great people like you who are able to understand and appreciate what we are doing. This means a lot to us. We put a lot of effort making these videos, whenever our baby girl takes a nap and goes to sleep we work on them, doing our best to show our adventures. It’s nice to see a classic boat restored properly to as good, or better, than new condition. I wish more people would consider this before buying a newly built boat. These old boats can give great pleasure to a new generation of sailors.
Thanks Keith! It is wonderful to see a classic boat get brought back to life. We were surprised with how sturdy alma was built. She is tough but also a great sailing boat. Thanks for watching our journey
Sailing was on the decline until so many young people were exposed to the idea via RUclips and the internet. I am so happy to see so many sweet young couples enjoy the first part of their lives together sailing to far off places for adventure. Old boats are being saved and given sweat and love and a new lease on life. Thank you for the tour. Job very well done. God bless.
Yes you are right. It has been great that this lifestyle was put out there for others to see and understand. And old boats are being restored and able to sail again as they once used to. Thanks for watching! Stay safe.
Proof that when you keep an imposible dream alive it can become a most wonderful reality . You didn't lose sight of that star and made it there and beyond I think. Alma is a work of maritime art. Bravo!!!
She is stunning! Great job! I usually don´t like the esthetics of hardtops like that, but you,ve managed to build that whitout messing up the lines of the boat. Respect
Astrid thanks that means a lot! And yes we definitely agree! We were hesitate because we didnt want to Take the beauty away from her so did our best to design it in a way that wouldn’t distract from Almas pure classic beauty. Happy to have you watching our journey!
Great Job! Sometimes you have to start out NOT knowing, or you wouldn't start, it would just be too overwhelming, but look at what you have achieved and all the useful skills you have learned. Not just a couple of dreamers who thought about it, you got started and refused to back down, even when stuff got "messy". Persistence, that's a great quality in anyone's skillset.
Thanks so much Sandy! You are exactly right! What a great way to put it. Reading this comment puts a smile on our faces because it is a wonderful summary of what we experienced. Thanks again, looking forward to hearing from you soon!
I have restored a couple of sailboats myself and some of these projects were rather extensive, but not near what you have done. You have done a great job and got a fantastic result. Congratulations on the achievement!
Outstanding! Would love to see beginning to completion of this project in more detail then this clip. I'm sure you are both very proud of your sailing vessel. Alma looks Great!
This brings back many memories as a friend in Seattle had an E41 and he loved that boat and kept it like a fine piece of furniture. Unfortunately he passed and I'm afraid the old girl is probably more like the old Alma than a fine piece of furniture now. Very sad as I miss them both but will retrain great memories of sailing with him on her.
Wow that is amazing. We are sorry to hear about your dear friend, we understand how hard that is. We are glad to hear you have wonderful memories of sailing on her with your friend to treasure. Best of wishes to you!

@@SailingAlma Sadly we swallowed the anchor 9 years ago. While in Mexico, and planning to head to Central/South America for hurricane season, my folks came down for a visit. So we're here, helping to deal with aging parents, first Mom until she passed away, and now Dad. But we have never regretted the financial sacrifices we made to refit the boat and take off. Our 10 years aboard was easily the most fulfilling and rewarding 10 years of our lives.
Wonderful, beautiful project......for "young" people mostly. Having owned a "remodeled" (done by others) classic I can appreciate what you felt when done. (Actually owning and maintaining a sailboat is never "done"!) Good luck on your travels!
What a beautiful boat! I live in the midwest and am a car guy at heart, but I can appreciate the countless hours that go into a project like this. Great work!
@@SailingAlma I am a fan of offbeat 1960's cars. My first car was a 1966 Buick Lesabre 4 door. It was a boat, pun intended, but I could pack up to 6 of my friends in it and we had so much fun. Currently I own a 1994 F150 that is as much a project truck as it is a work truck. I am a carpenter by trade and use it for work. The thing is, when you have the chance to buy a short cab, long bed 101K, 4WD truck for $1200...I couldn't pass it up.
Beautiful Boat with classic lines! Reminds me of a Hinckley. I'm very impressed by the amount and quality of hard work you two put into this project. Well done! Looking forward to following your journey.

Great job you two! I love the video. These are the stories I'm looking for when I watch sailing videos. I want to see where you go, but just as important to me is to know what it's really like to own a sail boat and to learn along the way. Thanks for this!

Wonderful, beautiful project......for "young" people mostly. Having owned a "remodeled" (done by others) classic I can appreciate what you felt when done. (Actually owning and maintaining a sailboat is never "done"!) Good luck on your travels!
Thanks Bert this means a lot to us!! 🥂 cheers
What a beautiful boat! I live in the midwest and am a car guy at heart, but I can appreciate the countless hours that go into a project like this. Great work!
Thanks Jason! That is awesome. What kind of cars you like? I (Yulian) have a thing for classic cars as well.
Thanks for watching 👍😆
@@SailingAlma I am a fan of offbeat 1960's cars. My first car was a 1966 Buick Lesabre 4 door. It was a boat, pun intended, but I could pack up to 6 of my friends in it and we had so much fun. Currently I own a 1994 F150 that is as much a project truck as it is a work truck. I am a carpenter by trade and use it for work. The thing is, when you have the chance to buy a short cab, long bed 101K, 4WD truck for $1200...I couldn't pass it up.
What a great journey the boat turned out beautifully, you guys have done an amazing job well done!
alan northcott thanks so much Alan! It feels great to hear that!
Wow! 4.5 years to fix up a boat! Looks like you enjoyed the journey and that’s the important thing!
Beautiful Boat with classic lines! Reminds me of a Hinckley. I'm very impressed by the amount and quality of hard work you two put into this project. Well done! Looking forward to following your journey.
Thanks so much! Yes she does look very similar to a Hinckley. Looking forward to having you follow our journey!
I wish I had even just a fraction of both of of your talent. Amazing.
That yacht really has beautiful lines! Someone once said: A yacht is a whole in the ocean you put money in... ;)
Thanks Jay! Yes so true haha
3 months LOL
Grit, determination and a relentless drive to get it done is the foundation of success in all aspects of life.
You guys followed this formula and you made your dream happen.
It's inspiring and I hope it brings you the freedom and happiness you worked towards.
Great job you two! I love the video. These are the stories I'm looking for when I watch sailing videos. I want to see where you go, but just as important to me is to know what it's really like to own a sail boat and to learn along the way. Thanks for this!
Thanks Zac! Glad you are enjoying our videos. And its great to hear you like both types of videos. Excited to share our adventures with you.
Stay safe and thanks for watching
One of the most beautiful boats ever.
I'd really like to hear more about the hardtop bimini that you made. Just about to start my journey and was considering the same.
Sean McDaniel we will definitely go into more detail in future videos! Thanks for watching. You can also see more detailed pics of the whole process on our instagram (link in description)
Nice work, inspirational .. the benefit of building it again from scratch is that you truly know your boat and if there might be a problem you'll know how to fix it..
Thank you! You are definitely right, whenever anything breaks we are able to fix it!
fantastic job guys, particularly like what you did to modernise and brighten the interior, but all the work you did was obviously done superbly and properly! well done
Thanks Gordon! Means a lot. Happy to hear you like the interior!
Thanks for watching 👍😆
It is a good thing we dont see the hard work ahead of us. Or we would give up without trying. Well done great job.
Thanks Robert. So true!
What an undertaking! Bravo, can you please identify the Ft Pierce yard you used
Thanks Michael! It was called Riverside.
If we believe boats have souls, Alma will look after you and your family for the work you did on her, fantastic job. I myself am in the process of looking for a boat and was worried about the shape it would be in, not so much now after watching your videos, dedication, time and tlc will see to most things.
1:37 this guy driving backwards like a boss.
🤣
Oh wow! I just found your Channel! I have a 1970 Ericson 41! I bought her last March. I had the, Walter V Drive rebuild right away, $1400. I going to watch your videos from the beginning, today, now!
Hello Friends WOW! That is so cool to hear!! Congrats on your new boat! Yes smart idea the v drive has caused us some problems in the past. Awesome! Happy to have you part of our journey!
Would love to see a detailed tour!
Very beautiful. I know you are very proud. May you always have the sun on your face and the wind in your sails. God bless
Thanks Donald means a lot! God bless
Awesome stuff!!! The amount of work that goes into a project like that is insane. I redid an old 22' Mako and it took forever, I couldn't even imagine something in the 40' class.
Thanks Chris! Yes it is an insane amount of work! Congrats on your reno, im sure she looks great!
This absolutely looks binge worthy! Well done!
