- Do you have a pond with green/cloudy/murky water? Here is a way to keep your water very clear. With this simple test you clearly see the impact of the UV filtration on water clarity.
I personally don't leave the device on but turn it on when I see the water clarity reducing.

Salut!

One problem that happens sometimes in aquariums, is turning on a UV sterilizer can cause a spike in ammonia. It's actually so good at killing the algea, your system can get overloaded with a whole bunch of new dead biomass. I'm not sure on the scale of aquaponics if that can happen, but I'd keep a special eye on water parameters when turning one on, but those results are pretty great.
Great point Dan! Thanks for bringing it up
What are your thoughts on ozone filtration in aquaponics
Hi, What would be the correct installation of the UV, before or after the biological filter? do you have a dedicated pump for the UV? What power (w) do you recommend for the volume of water in your system? Congratulations on the video.
Bonjour, quelle est la profondeur de l'étang ?
Does the clarifier affect nutrient availability to the plants? A knowledgeable friend of mine recommended i will have problems down the road. Can you please add to this.
Hi Tim,
The UV will kill algae which will release their nitrogen into the water
Did you build your pond using a liner? Have done any videos on how to build a pond?
Yes and yes. this video we show you a bit: ruclips.net/video/LP8fay-8J3A/видео.html
but I have a step by step training called "Holistic aquaponics" available on the website "Aquaponics Revolution"
Hi! Is there any reason why you don't use it more often to have even more clear water?
hi Jorge, for me the aim is to produce a sustainable ecosystem and food. Hence I prefer to keep the UV off most of the time so it doesn't consume electric power
@@AquaponicsRevolution it makes totally sense! Thank you for the reply! :)
Where to buy?
UVC water pond filter.
Also you can consider CleanLightNL and modify it yourself on a timer.
You can get a UV "filter" in any good pond shop. You will only need to run it few hours/year depending on water temperature and sunlight exposition.
