don't vampires have a toggle that you can backbar and it will keep working even if you change bars? why can't they do the same here? and change guard to work like that too while we are at it.
Hot Take, this is just another proof that Zos hate group defensive buffs like from Miritorious Service. When my dungeon group wanted me to run group defesinve sets I looked at all existing sets and EVERYTHING is shit. Either the range is 8m or less, 50% uptime or less or giga weird prog condition. This set looks really good, until you look at the skills to prog it. Cool we have one more of this now. I feel like I just wrote a forum post.
They've been in a pendulum swing away from mitigation buffs since people were cheesing the hardest content with the Phoenix Set and Immortal Warrior. That said, there are still amazing defensive buffs that exist for group scenarios. Pearlescent Ward (especially for dungeon content) is incredible, Vrol's Command is decent, Thurvokun, Void Bash, Brands of the Imperium, Foolkiller's Ward, Ozezan the Inferno if you have lots of group healing, Abyssal Brace, Grave Guardian. There's options.
ZOS would rather make you waste an entire skill slot on both bars rather than make a new unique equippable slot that is separate from set boosts and has its own effect via a unique system. This could've been a perfect oppurtunity for a cape like slot that has its own system like scribing and could potentially be used as an additional drip for everyone that could both be toggled on or off.
As a healer main, I'm also frustrated on double bar requirement. Both tanks and healers have too much on their bars already that are necessary to drop two spots for this. I can see how it would be useful in PVP though. Maybe they need to make it two "morphs". One has to be double barred and is a toggle, one is single barred and a timer.
i agree and id prefer a timer too and then it'd probably play nicer for pearls healer to use but atm only makes since on rojo if its on healer at all but so annoying to lose those slots
I agree, I really hate two bar skills, I feel like every skill should be one bar required. I do like the fact that it stays on until you turn it off like guard I want that to stay and not have a duration. It would also be nice if they was to buff it to match the negatives about it such as -40% resource reduction... I feel like the 6% increase to whatever school that you chose is just simply not enough...
Put all the banners on arc dds (instead of camo hunter), they play coral anyway, sustain might still work if they play regen food and symphony on group. It would possibly result in higher personal dps for those arcs because of the signature script cavalier's charge (gives Weapon and spell damage based on movement speed for the banner bearer). Set the group with NB healer with quick siphon, 2-3 banner bearing arcs, and every banner bearer would have +330 weapon and spell damage. It can also give major brutality aoe, and major savagery (bye bye igneous ? no more sorc sustain issues and having to use crit pots ?) Edit : nvm, it only gives major to you, minor buffs to others They didnt show us how druid's resurgence interacts with it, maybe it reduces its sustain drawback. The interaction with arcanist and warden class mastery script will be interesting if it's a toggle, I wonder if they changed those.
i think for the double bar toggle skill, things are different, I don't believe it would follow the same rules as standard skills. In the stream, it appeared to give the affix bonus (major intellect and endurance) passively for an infinite amount of time
Tbh you shouldn't have sustain issues with sorc if you have all your passives, a combustion and potions. hell I run single stat food on my sorc DPS because of all the built in sustain and then health from pets.
@@Chris-gr7ll but as a sorc, you will need to drop one of your pets, and that's a damage loss. Also if your sorc is on travelling knife, banner might actually be too much of a sustain problem. On arc, you don't loose anything. At the moment, beam arcs are the class that take the least hit from loosing skills on their bars, it just means more beam time, especially in shorter fights.
Sorc tank main since launch. Glad you mentioned the clanfear lol. Still wish they would change the pets tho because I like the clanfear in some ways. For one it is a massive heal and the passives for pets give defensive benefits now.
Its weird that its acting like an infinite duration pet, where you have to double bar it, but you probably shouldn't frame this skill as being only usable by tanks. There is no reason a healer couldn't slot this instead and have it be perfectly fine. On top of that, the Support skill line gives bonus Magicka recovery for each slotted Support skill, making this definitely feel like its meant to be used by healers.
I agree entirely. Personally, I never used the Clannfear as a Sorcerer tank even before Ward and Vibrant Shroud became as they were. I always used the Matriarch, because I want to fill both the role of a tank and healer. (Because healers usually just spam Regeneration and Grand Healing maybe :D useless when tensions are high) But now I can heal myself with Ward, and still heal others with Vibrant Shroud, although it is a very unreliable group heal. And of course, Bound Aegis becoming 1 bar was immense. It made Sorcerer Tank much more flexible, because I freed up 3 slots. I doubt I would use this banner.
Look how Zos will receive really thoughtful feedback, even before PTS starts, just to ignore it and ship it to live server without a single change. Would be nice if Zos proves me wrong on this, i really like scribing and all the new tools you have as a group :)

Once I heard about this skill I thought it would be a toggle because of course it would. It's basically the same as vampire's frenzy, granting you or your group a buff whilst you get a debuff. It's ridiculous that it's supposed to be double barred
I genuinely think this was made with PvP/ the new bgs in mind primarily as will be nice to have in the new BG systems especially for support roles which would be more likely to see in 8vs8.. in PVE I see this most likely used on support DDs or healers and more likely used in trials instead of dungeons and 100% has not been designed for tanks imo
Would that make race even more unbalanced for tanks? Since you can counter the Recovery loss better with atronarch making choosing lady even a bigger "drawback"?
Do people even use Lady mundus? I can easily reach 30k+ on the worst race+class combo's known to man with just golden perf gear no matter what trial set I'm wearing (& ofc + Major and Minor Resolve + Bulwark). Sure I only do vTrial tanking so harder difficulties could be different but I've never had to ditch Atro, the few times I picked Steed was purely for the speed benefits (Raidlorns only).
i cant really see it being good to lock up 2 of my bar slots as a healer, i think they should make the skill have a duration and maybe a cost? might be fine to not have a cost at all with the sustain debuff

I think when it comes down to it what matters more is familiarity to content. Actually the only time I don't see spaulder on rojo commonly is the first boss of the new trial. I don't see a lot of spaulder at all. Usually it's olo/spc with master architect or war machine sometimes on a DD
Couldn't disagree more. Not having to press button just to refresh buff it's great. I hope they'll change all buffs to work like this. I never understand why forcing people to constantly refreshing their buffs was consider "engaging" or "interesting". You make your decision that you want this skill when you put it in to your bar. Everything else is just braindead busy work to maintain it. But I agree that they could make it that you have to slot it only on the one bar, not two.
In just about EVERY SINGLE MMO there are CDs on skills and buffs. Having a 1 button hit to permanently buff yourself until you toggle off would be incredibly terrible game design. It would be even worse in PVP and incredibly boring for any tanking role. There's zero player engagement at that point. If the game is too complex for you then it's best to lean slowly instead of being overwhelmed by CDs. Without CDs there's no rotation in combat which completely breaks the engagement of combat down to just auto attacking and attack skills. If that's the case, go please a FPS like Fortnite
@@Centurion305 "Without CDs there's no rotation in combat". See, you get it :) I play tanks in ESO exactly because they don't require rotations and if you think a rotation is what makes tank playstyle engaging than you probably don't know how to play a tank and what tank is suppose to do durning combat. The back bar is usually the buff bar so you shouldn't be on it other than to refresh buffs. Just switch back and activate it it costs litteraly nothing and the down time is the short time you'd be reapplying back bar stuff. So like 5 seconds at worst which is still really good since the ability has no resources cost other than 33% less resource gain. My guess is that they don't want oaken soul builds abusing it.
It's not for tanks. It's for healers, who stand in group. Tank stands in front of the boss. So it is almost impossible for a tank to cover the whole group with that.
Yeah, agreed. I'm personally very excited for the skill. Seems useful and could even replace other staple abilities in a rotation, provided it has the right buffs. Could be cool with Spaulder if you can manage the extreme burden that would put on you.
You guys all talk so confidently about this not being for tanks but for healers, that tanks can't stand with dds to give this buff. Funny how wrong you can be whilst being so confident that you are right.
@@Fizz1Up Why be so combative about it? You could run this on tank, but in any harder content you don't really want the boss facing the other group members. It's also a heavy penalty on the tank's resource restore. It could be done, and I'm all for off-meta builds, but it seems like the skill was designed with healers in mind.
Fizz is right and you guys are so confident about something you have no clue about. Let's look at most recent trials: Lucent Citadel 1st boss: Tanks are right next to DDs on each side, while Heales are running around stacking adds 2nd boss: Main Tank and one Healer are with DDs, Off Tank and one Healer are kiting 3rd boss: it depends during the running phase, on Xoryn tanks can reach DDs, Healer can reach them most of the time but will sometimes be catching Current Sanity's Edge 1st boss: Main Tank is away, Off Tank and Healer are with the group, during Shrapnel everyone is with the group 2nd boss: each Tank should be able to reach like 2 DDs from their side, Healers are actually in better position here 3rd boss: Main Tank is in literally perfect position for Banner and I know it because I'm using Scribing damage shields (which also have 8m range) in that fight, I don't even know why clueless players keep spamming "yOu hAvE tO sTaNd iN fRoNt oF tHe bOss dUh". You can keep Ansuul turned away from your group AND be within 8 meter range of Poison stacks in which DDs are going to stand. Are you guys even thinking about context like that when you write this kind of stuff or are you just imagining some fight with 0 mechanics where a healer can just stand right in the middle of the group? Not to mention that healers are not going to give up 2 skill slots either. If anything you'll throw it on Arcanist DDs because they suffer the least from taking away their bar space. TL:DR You can keep boss turned away while staying in that range, while Healers very often have to kite mechanics in Trials so they're far away.
Yea i feel like you are looking at the skill the wrong way. Its more of a healing support skill. As it requires the wearer to be in the group and thats really not possible for most tanks to do at any level. Also it being an area based buff that lowers recovery it’s essentially a skill version of the Spaulder mythic which is again a healer item.
Spaulder was a healer item until ppl finally realised it’s not, it was there for a few months. It’s gone a long time. It’s rarely on healers nowadays. It’s on tanks and buff dds.
it’s an awesome design hush, ima use it on my tank with the spammable magic version of the mage guild scribe skill with the stam restore option, easy fix and more fun
This is supposed to be comparable to Spaulder which is traditionally worn by healers. Big AOE for groups that drops resource recovery for the wearer. It will be useful anywhere Spaulder will be useful. It’s not meant for tanking.
@@Hyperioxes my guild’s healers wear Spaulder quite a bit, I’ve never seen any of our tanks use it, myself included. Quick glance at forums says it’s mostly used by healers too. It honestly doesn’t matter. The new ability’s going to be see the best use on healers.
@@MeanAndPristine I more commonly have OT in my groups run spaulder as well. healers have primary monster sets based of healing that we prefer, as in many tank monster sets don't bring as much to the group and often are more selfish/unnecessary.

Without CDs there's no rotation in combat which completely breaks the engagement of combat down to just auto attacking and attack skills. If that's the case, go please a FPS like Fortnite
@@Centurion305 "Without CDs there's no rotation in combat". See, you get it :)
I play tanks in ESO exactly because they don't require rotations and if you think a rotation is what makes tank playstyle engaging than you probably don't know how to play a tank and what tank is suppose to do durning combat. If that's the case, go play a DPS or WoW. See what I did there? :D
@@DragonBank If pushing buttons is what makes tank not boring for you I recommend to do some content other than non-dlc dungons. You will discover the whole new game :)
I dont want to play combat, I want to walk next to enemies and they die. Actually, I dont want to see enemies at all.
Dont worry bro, The Elder Scrolls: Castles is coming out soon!
Yall tanks mad now. Thats been Sorc life for years. Pfft.
Lol there's a name I recognize, ye sorcs and blades are zos's most hated classes if it ain't a arc it gets nerfed 😂
@@Rimuru_UwU I mean they did some stuff for Sorcs not too long ago but you can tell the dev was a DK main or something. lol.
Brooks Crossing
Let's look at most recent trials:
Lucent Citadel
1st boss: Tanks are right next to DDs on each side, while Heales are running around stacking adds
2nd boss: Main Tank and one Healer are with DDs, Off Tank and one Healer are kiting
3rd boss: it depends during the running phase, on Xoryn tanks can reach DDs, Healer can reach them most of the time but will sometimes be catching Current
Sanity's Edge
1st boss: Main Tank is away, Off Tank and Healer are with the group, during Shrapnel everyone is with the group
2nd boss: each Tank should be able to reach like 2 DDs from their side, Healers are actually in better position here
3rd boss: Main Tank is in literally perfect position for Banner and I know it because I'm using Scribing damage shields (which also have 8m range) in that fight, I don't even know why clueless players keep spamming "yOu hAvE tO sTaNd iN fRoNt oF tHe bOss dUh".
TL:DR
You can keep boss turned away while staying in that range, while Healers very often have to kite mechanics in Trials so they're far away.
@BBRocker75 Honestly, I think it's best used on a HA sorc which has an easy time with sustain and is standing in group.
Spaulder is run both by tanks and healers. The AOE both on Spaulder and Banner are easily big enough to benefit the group from a tank in most content.
Spaulder was a healer item until ppl finally realised it’s not, it was there for a few months. It’s gone a long time. It’s rarely on healers nowadays. It’s on tanks and buff dds.
I think this skill was made more towards PVP not PVE content.
it’s an awesome design hush, ima use it on my tank with the spammable magic version of the mage guild scribe skill with the stam restore option, easy fix and more fun
This is supposed to be comparable to Spaulder which is traditionally worn by healers. Big AOE for groups that drops resource recovery for the wearer.
It will be useful anywhere Spaulder will be useful. It’s not meant for tanking.
What? Spaulder is traditionally worn by Tanks and EC Necros, it's only rarely used by healers
@@nierielsootica Then this new ability will be right up healers’ alley, since it doesn’t prevent you from wearing a monster set.
@@MeanAndPristine That doesn't change that healers are often not in group as much as an off tank. It will likely be in both Tanks and Healers tool kits.
Horrible change. They want a game for newbies.
if you don't like it, don't use it, there are alternative skills to use
That is not a matter of not liking it...
@@canisinumbra it actually is
@@jmbrady1 Actually no. Do you really think Stagger DK loves to play Stonefist, Igneous, Alkosh?
@@canisinumbra not everyone does but it is there for those that do like them
It's not for the tank, dude
what would it be for then? a DD who needs those skill slots even more to do damage? Or a healer that often doesn’t have 2 flex spots?
@@fbdidhwbahsuxhsb healers do have slots for major aoe buffs, lol
@@НикитаКачанов-г9ч They do not have 2 slots free for a skill screwing their recovery, and in most content they don’t stay in the group permanently because they play mechs for you. It’s either tanks or a buff DD using that idiotic skill like Spaulder. It can even be slapped on an Arc DD. have fun.
@@canisinumbra yea yea
i disagree
Idc bout two bars. Honestly yall just want broken abilities. It's such a good ability, the downside should be two bars. Yall just wanna click a button, have meta abilities and have zero repercussions which is hilariously child like.
