Today I learned that Wyatt has never heard of Team Fortress 2. It's free to play and has a fun, somewhat cartoonish style for a team-based shooter. I recommend giving it a try.
I was genuinely taken aback by the statement that Mega Man and Metroid are like Mario. Like, I'm looking at you like I would if you said your mattress was delicious. Last I checked Mario doesn't have a gun? Like...what? I guess you have the fire flower, but that's a huge stretch, lmao. To go into detail, with Mega Man you have the unique concept of defeating bosses, taking their powers and using them to defeat other bosses weak to those powers in a "rock paper scissors" type of concept, the first of its kind to do something like that. With Metroid, that was the first game to have a big open world to explore in a sidescrolling setting (before that the only games that had any level of exploration to my knowledge were top down) that gradually opens up the more abilities you find. Back then, with sidescrollers, all you had to do was "go right" with hardly any exploration to be had, the fun factor only coming from the challenge. If you've ever heard of the term "Metroidvania," well, the first half of that term is the reason why that style of game exists. And that's not even going into later entries like the Mega Man X or Zero series or the Metroid Prime games that completely changed the formulas. I don't know what you saw/played that gave you the opinion that they were just Mario clones, but I highly recommend reexamining those series. Mega Man 2, Mega Man X, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are the GOATs IMO. Nerd rant over, lol.
Followup: Okay, Wyatt has to be trolling, he did NOT just say Crash and Uncharted are similar just because they're made by the same company, WHAT?! Crash and Uncharted have as much in common as Mario and Call of Duty, what is going on? If anything, Uncharted and Last of Us have more in common, both by Naughty Dog also, and at least both games feature protags that wield guns. They're still nothing alike, but at least there's SOMETHING to point to, I'm really gonna have to have this one explained to me like I'm 5, because that blew my mind.
I'm not gonna rant but he probably is thinking of a different game because (at least Metroid because I haven't played MegaMan) the gameplay is not at all similar. But idk Metroid>mario

Wyatt, I’d highly recommend looking into and researching the GOW lore. It gets a bit convoluted at times, but overall it is a pretty enjoyable rabbit hole to go down. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the Arkham games. Probably my second favorite series of games tbh, they are literally perfect
I’ve played most of the dark souls games and elden ring and can say that they are some of the hardest games to beat, but the most rewarding which can make it extremely fun

Need for speed games take me back I still remember the good old days of just being a police car and just smashing the crap out of suspects in there cars like they were made of cardboard. Definitely a top tier racing game franchise

I highly recommend that you get into some of the older valve games on pc if your looking for something new to try Personal recommendations would be -half life -team fortress two -portal 1 and another u recommend would be new Vegas because of the fact it has in my personal opinion the best story of any fallout game and expands on the engine of fallout 3 though I have heard from many it is quite difficult to get into
If you've played Half life 2, I feel like you would rate it as good. Also, I think a lot of the side scrolling games that came after Super Mario Bros were not so much rip offs, but more so that SMB created an entire genre of side scrolling platformers that are great in their own rights. Similar to how Wolfenstein & Doom popularized first-person shooters.
Wyatt, I respect the decision on Mass Effect. The first game is good a little clunky, but the story is pretty good. I think you'd love it, if you dig the RPG style game!
Na, I know I'm a year late to this, so I'm binging a bunch of these videos, but if you haven't played Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, you gotta try it. It's relatively easy, but it's fun enough to play, and the best aspect is the huge ass map you get to unlock and explore.
Wyatt, I love your videos and 110% respect your opinions, but in my mega man and meteoroid are both completely different from one an other and Mario. Mega man is a 2d shooter that's miles harder then any Mario game, and meteoroid is an essentially a open world 2d shooter. Great video though, you're always entitled to your own opinion!
They really missed out on a few key games. Spyro games, Fortnite, Horizon, supercell games (clash of clans, etc), Rainbow 6, and marvel avengers games (just like Spider-Man/ Batman games) where all forgetten. Also I used to have all the skylanders games & I wish my brother hadn’t taken them cause some of those figurines are worth big money now
The one red square with the white symbols that you didn't know what it was. That's DOTA 2. Edit: The orange circle and triangular symbol one is Half Life. I've seen a couple others that you didn't know but I can't remember what they were.

I have no idea how a person can walk away from a Metroid game thinking it was a "Mario knockoff". The two are different in almost every way imaginable. Then again he called it 'Metrode' so he probably just put it their to avoid filling the idk tier (same for Mega Man). Other than that, the list is ok.

I never played crash bandicoot growing up so I decided when the remastered trilogy came out I would play it. I thought the physics of his jumping was so frustrating- there is this huge lag with how he flips and jumps that made me want to rage quit. I just couldn’t do it.
I can understand people not wanting to play Motorsport, but damn, the Horizon series in the Forza franchise is probably top 20 games in my opinion. The countries, the festivals, the cars…it’s just that great, plus the customization does need a little work but it’s good. Overall the series is like an 8/10 to 9/10, somewhere in between that range
