I paid $4500 over two years ago. Still have the bike. I’ve had no issues with it and I’ve put over 25,000 km on it. I added aftermarket pipes and added aftermarket seat, but other than that I left it stock. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and have no interest in getting a different bike. Sounds like a fair deal to me.
I went with a mustang saddle and I never had to rejet the carbs as I just installed cobra slip on pipes. I believe if you install a full exhaust system, you will then have to rejet.
It's sick how cheap bikes are in the US. I've got a 2001 V-Star 1100 and I payed 6500€ for it which is roughly $7300. On top of that we have about 5-6 months of riding time in the year in Finland. I was able to replace it myself, but if you take it to a shop they are going to charge at least $1400!!! What pissed me off most about that is that Yamaha knew there was a problem with the starter clutch and never did a recall. Other than that the only thing I've had to do is regular maintenance.
