Great insight! If I don't feel like I'm hitting that first line, it throws me off for remainder of the script. When it's just not clicking, sometimes I'll step away from the mic and get out of the studio and do something else for a short time. In the interim, I may bounce that first line around in my head or even say it out loud a few times. More often than not that's when something clicks and I zoom back into the studio and record it. What's really happening is I'm internalizing that line and what it means to me and what I think it will mean to the listener.
