Thanks for making this video. Not sure what's leaking on my Buick Encore. Will have to pressure test it when it warms up. Glad the timing chain isn't involved in this repair. Great video
im not sure if its the Water pump on mine, i know its a leak in that area that starts to drip more when the engine is running..i get the "Engine Overheating, Idle Engine" indicator on the dash.. could it be the hose near the rear of the water pump? or whats the best way to make sure its the water pump??
a gm water pump usully last 200,000 the thermostat last 70,000 the whole kit is 300 just the thermostat is 19... Takes 5 minutes and only has 3 bolts? And you don't need a torx bit a 5/16 box end wrench will work...that thermostat has wax in it...it fails more often than the pump
@@rickschindler1556 thanks buddy. That's what I ended up doing. I used a good chunk of wood in between the jack and the oil pan. It was my wife's car. God forbid I tell her I cracked the oil pan.

those are torx bolts , use the correct socket type ad size, avoid problems. Those torx sockets are cheap .
@@crazysexycool180 I agree with you. Use the proper E-Torx socket for the repair
These things are notorious for the water pump going out..As they leak like a facet..So replacing the thermostat will not fix them...
Did you jack up the car using a block of wood on the oil pan?
That's what I'm wondering right now.
@@journeman77yes
