    Duude! I totally know the stress! While working on my R6 and adjusting the Valve Clearances, a shim on Cylinder 1 slipped out of my hand and I had absolutely NO clue where it went. I could NOT find it and I didn't have everything sealed off. So immediately I was picturing the worst - Just putting the motor back together and hoping it's not in there, being at 16,000 rpm tucked in and the motor exploding. What I ended up doing was - I went fishing with an extendable magnet that is about 20lbs or so and it grabbed the shim from somewhere in the oil. (a 20lb magnet is annoyingly strong but worked great in that situation.)
    If you ever do lose a retainer again, and it's not in the oil pan, running one of those extendable magnets through the head can pick it up and grab any metal shavings that may be in there.

    • @JonHop1
      @JonHop1 3 года назад

      Exactly... He should honestly just go with a Supertech Valvetrain... GREAT upgrade and affordable. Been using Supertech on all my K's and F's for boost and they are fantastic. Titanium retainers Im not a huge fan of just because of the fact that they wear out fast and can break easier. Obviously for race applications, where you are replacing head and engine parts more frequently, this is not an issue, but for street cars, for more reliability purposes, I go with steel retainers.
