That being said, my understanding is they were pretty flexible with their scripts (making Shuyi half Japanese to accomodate YU's accent, etc.) So if Tian had played Shuyi, I felt like they would have modified the character in a different way, and we would have a very different Shuyi character as well as DeYi chemistry. Still, I am glad we got SamYU. Their shy interactions bts give me life!

Whenever I see Tian teases Sam, I wonder how their chemistry would have been if they had played DeYi together instead. Result Ent needs to release that footage of them rehearsing together. I am super curious.
@Meah Gojo Cruz Agree. YU definitely has this unique vibe that fits Shuyi more. That being said, my understanding is they were pretty flexible with their scripts (making Shuyi half Japanese to accomodate YU's accent, etc.) So if Tian had played Shuyi, I felt like they would have modified the character in a different way, and we would have a very different Shuyi character as well as DeYi chemistry. Still, I am glad we got SamYU. Their shy interactions bts give me life!
