Peskin is an unmitigated disaster as SF supervisor. He's been part of the problem for years! Why would anyone trust these clowns to re-imagine Union Square when Peskin, the supervisors & the mayor have run the city into the ground!!!!

What's the sales volume of that store? Since news broke that Macy's SF will be closing, no one has mentioned that or asked about it. A YT video of it a few months ago showed quite a bit of foot traffic. It was around Xmas time, however, but stores in dead malls during even the holidays are known to be even quieter. As for Peskin, he reminds me of a kid who kills his parents then complains he's now become an orphan.
This has been a fascinating experiment in eating their own tail, and then asking for seconds and thirds.
Aaron Peskin is just about the most anti-business of all of the SF Supervisors.
He must be really desperate right now!
Damage done. People will believe their own eyes, experiences, family and friends over SF politicians asking the public for a 4th and 5th chance while still getting things WRONG!
Somewhere in the attempt to find that balance of compassion and public safety it seems our overall objective is not being achieved.
They would to give a rent free location and police staff at cost to the city at the least to maybe get macys to stay.

Peskin’s policies and actions contributed to the problem and he is in the mix to fix it is not the right person nor has the vision to tackle the problems
Turn it into a luxury mall with a foodcourt on the lower levels, retail on the upper levels and beer gardens and bars on the rooftop. Put a Walmart or Target in too and redesign the pace to have very high security. This could reattract brands like H&M, and Nordstrom back to San Francisco. And we would give the centre a new name. Maybe Centrale or something.

How can u revitalized the area when there are so little foot traffic? There are more cops in Union Square then there are shoppers. OKAY i'm exaggerating but I'm not far off. Most of the foot traffic is at the Apple store. Macy is empty of shoppers. The city doesn't maintain good security at the parking structures that they own and they wonder why ppl don't want to drive down there to do anything. They can't even keep Fisherman Wharf safe from car break in. I see young black men roaming Fisherman Wharf on a daily basis brazenly walked up to parked cars looking for things to steal.
