Fabi is a Monster World No. 2 and is *likely a World Champion* in most eras. He just happens to be in *Magnus's* era; The *most competitive era* due to the aggregate accumulation of games, computers/engines, strongest Super GM's, etc.
@@michaelsdenney I agree. When his career is done in 10-15 years it will be clear. My Top-5 All-time are: (1) Magnus, (2) Kasparov, (3) Fischer, (4) Capablanca & (5) Morphy.
Fabi is great and I love him, but his weakness is shorter time formats is a big shortcoming... at classical he's one of the best in his era, esp at opening prep. but cant really play rapid, blitz etc at a GOAT level. am glad hes regained his form, but i think currently wesley so is a better player.
I didn't even pause, I knew the move right away. Which is weird because usually when he asks me to pause I cant find the move, its just in this case I know to use the second rule of chess: look for double attacks. That maneuvar should really be obvious to most players with experience
9:20 Pause-The-Video: I actually didn't pause it; I just instinctively-and/or-luckily picked the right move in three seconds--because I'm reckless and stupid. Maybe I should just start playing Lichess with that no-think strategy.
9:55 - Regarding capturing the knight, I think a better move for white in the position might be to play Nh6 and allow the queen to be captured. After gxh5, you could regain the queen by playing Nf7+ with a fork, and after the knight was captured you'd have equal material, but black's pawn structure would be shattered whereas white's pawns would still be one contiguous whole. If I were playing white, I'd like my chances in that position.
Good catch, but I feel like those two pawns in the centre aren't that strong with so few pieces remaining, I think it would be much harder to push them, but its an advantage regardless.
That was my first thought as well but after consideration: why to trade queens? Engine thinks Qf3 is better and white has some advantage left while Nh6 line is dead equal.
The reason Nh6 isn’t very good is because you’d be trading down into an opposite color bishop endgame, which is almost always a dead draw with equal material. Black’s passed pawn on b3 also slows all ideas of pushing your own pawn chain. When you’re pushing for a win, you never want to trade down like this unless you’re certain that it’s winning.

its really instructive how fabi didnt grab the dark square bishop right away with the knight, i mean, your central blockade is on light squares and you have a light square bishop so blacks dark square bishop stands unopposed. it can be an excellent attacker on c5 targeting f2 and the king or an excellent defender on f8 defending g7 and h6. honestly tho, wouldnt 95% of us (including me) just grab the bishop bc lets face it, from a distant perspective, thats a scary piece
14:31 a more brutal mate for white is Rg7 followed by Nf7. If Black Rf8, white still plays Nf7+. Black Rxf7 - White Pxf7 and there is no stopping pawn promotion Pf8/Q#
So difficult for top players to remain error free and wins games against such tough competition. Fabi and Ding stumbled ever so slightly and it is noteworthy which really highlights the consistency with which Magnus plays. Hats off to Fabi.

#suggestion Please can you tell Magnus to do a blindfold chess tournament? He will listen to you. I want to see super GM do blindfold. Love your channel btw ❤
After pawn takes knight, queen takes pawn, rook blocks the attack, you give Qe5 check. If black blocks with the rook or the queen, then you sac your queen to take that piece with check. Black has to take your queen with the remaining heavy piece or Qg7 is mate. Now their pieces are scattered, and rook b8 is an unstoppable back rank If black runs their king to g8 you play Rg7 check, threatening to take the rook and then play Qg7 mate. It’s mate in 3. The longest black can survive is Kf8, e7 Ke8, exd8=Q+ Kxd8, Qb8#

I even feel bad for asking you to do this on a Sunday 😆
Another great warstory 🙌
I would've traded the strong knight and pawn for the rook as soon as it moved into the king's territory
❤
That rook was way to passive after the white queen retreated from g4, trading it for the knight was it’s only redemption.
Top game - thanks Antonio.
Nothing fancy, just a demonstration of incredible chess strength. Beautiful game!

This is beautiful 💜
C4..its ALWAYS explosive!
9:00 I thought Antonio is messing with us and it's just h6 :D
As a Pole I have to give you a credit for such a clean pronounciation of Świercz's name 😉
After a long time, you have said that magical "sorry about that'' line
Why are you sorry? It's not your fault he played the English!
Hilarious
You should only apologize when they play the Canadian opening!
When You Absolutely Have to Win ... Giri: "Draw?"
This is a perfect lesson of how to play white. Exploit your initiative and gain just a little more space than black as you head into the middle game.
Beautiful game/endgame.

At 12:55, would Qc3 be also winning for white?
Fabi wins because of the strongest move in any position """ b4 """

man i feel real good when i see a move that is supposedly a "very hard move to see"
Antonio is getting closer and closer to Joe Rogan number of subscribers!
GM name is Dariusz Świercz he is polish but curently playing for US
11:43 I wonder on exchanging black rook for a horse and a pawn.
That was like watching a lion chase down a giselle, grabbing it by the neck, and choking it to death.
Thumbnail contains an image of Fabiano. Me: Sunday Improved
It's too bad the game didn't end as shown - having already underpromoted to a bishop, I imagine Fabi would have underpromoted to a rook.
I guess that's the difference between having a slip and actually slipping. Fabi is really strong.

I can’t be the only one to wonder what Agadmator is doing in the beginning, In almost every video, when he bends over and say “sorry about that”?
13:37 why not capturing the knight? The rock can block the queen's attack
After pawn takes knight, queen takes pawn, rook blocks the attack, you give Qe5 check.
If black blocks with the rook or the queen, then you sac your queen to take that piece with check. Black has to take your queen with the remaining heavy piece or Qg7 is mate. Now their pieces are scattered, and rook b8 is an unstoppable back rank

Writing Schwierz instead of Świercz is kinda painful
