abby olivia so, a classic song NEVER actually gets old and Miley also sang it when it was old because it was a classic bit done my Dolly Parton originally in the 80s & Miley sang this around 2012 ish when she left Hannah Montana and was no longer working for Disney anymore so she really didn’t know what she was gonna do in career quite yet cause now she was officially on her own and started managing like her own career and not having to sing songs that she had been basically forced to like and sing with passion still so with this she was just trying to play around with different sounds and also sense she wasn’t under Disney contract or Hollywood record anymore cause that’s like the record label for Disney so she basically needed to get resigned to a different record label and she didn’t really know what sound she wanted yet or what kind of music she was gonna sing now or how was now gonna get people to basically notice Miley OUTSIDE of the Disney Channel so she wanted to basically be taken more seriously as an artist than people just knowing as the girl from a kids show Hannah Montana who sang Disney kid music & she knew she had to somehow make her music and image grow so that it’s no long the Disney image that people used to her as. People used to see her as like the innocent pop star for kids to look up & a pop star that is basically perfect and doesn’t make mistakes and always be like a goody goody I guess so kids behave more lol so they have someone fun to look up to but of course Miley was grown up by then and a lot her young children fans, some of them were still quite small cause some started watching Hannah by age 5 6 so Hannah was only on 4 years so by the time Miley was done the show, her then 5 year old fans were still pretty young to understand a lot or that she was growing up cause a lot of them don’t realize that Miley on the show was already 13 years old going on 14 and before you knew she was already 17 going on 18 & parted her ways with Disney cause then when most Disney starts to separate themselves from their squeaky clean Disney image once they turn 18 and they start to evolve more as an artist and usually wanna be taken more seriously cause when you’re on Disney, no one really takes you seriously as an artist cause Disney controls in what artist you should be and they decide EVERYTHING for you literally like every detail and even how you should act in public & they tell you that you should always remain clean and innocent cause of course Disney Channel is centered more around kids so they wanna make sure that all their pop stars or actors follow their strict rules of how to be out in public and you also have to be very careful in what you say in interview but ESPECIALLY Disney stars have to be carful cause they have to make sure that whatever they say doesn’t spoil anything and that you talk clean like, like no swearing is allowed allowed during interviews of any kind & they ask that you basically smile a lot when you’re in public and don’t reveal too many personal details about yourself like by not revealing that you’ve had like depression before cause they don’t want kids to be triggered by that and then they’ll see that see that she’s depressed then they’ll be depressed cause children don’t know any better yet so they just follow into the footsteps of their idol and they try to be like them cause that’s how kids are and that’s actually how they learn best believe it or not

So this is not Mileys version of Jolene at all cause it's to similar to Dolly's of course
All Miley did was tweak the song a little bit meaning she kinda played around with DOLLYS version a bit like switched up the lyrics little bit but pretty much sang it how dolly did & just added a more pop sound to it but kept the same rhythm as dolly had
