- Resident unknown-fast-guy and a friend of D-Squared, team Fasthouse rider Sean Collier took our GoPro out for a spin on his KX500 during the last lap of open practice on Friday afternoon at the 17th annual Red Bull Day In the Dirt motocross grand prix from Glen Helen Raceway. Enjoy the sweet sounds & raw power of the open-class 2-stroke machine.

Rode a 94' KX500 around my local track the other day. Honestly much easier to ride than I thought. Power was phenomenal and always there; loved it so much
I feel like you could lighten the KX500 for track use by just removing the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th gears, and the front wheel. And still beat most anyone around a track.

Still love my K5, more of a desert rider but have on occasion rode Glen Helen and Pala with it.
One things for sure, when you twist that grip in 3rd 4th or 5th you better damn well mean it!

that's some Damn fine riding right there! and the kx500 was on fire! makes me want a kx500 next to the 300 in the stable.
I have 200 hours maybe more on the KX500's . I was never a race winner . Just riding them is an experience you can't put into words. Like when you're in top gear at speed and the wheel starts lifting off the deck. Not sure if that happens with the new 450's. The KX500 is a lovely bike.

That bike didn't even brake a sweat, you hear the other two smokes, litterally rung out, that think sounded like it flew past them just idling!

That's an interesting track. Looks ideal for a 500 though still hard work. Pointed and squirted through those turns nicely.

I primarily ride street and have ridden quite a few different bikes. I can say in all honesty that the KX500 had the highest level of "oh shit" factor than any other bike I've ridden.

Kx500 = warp speed sit down shut up and hold on tight because when these bikes are on the pipe things get violent quickly long live the steel frame kx500 the later versions are detuned for obvious reasons hahahahaha
Had one for several years..... was in a Grand Prix 100-mile enduro, ‘91, gassing in the pit, and a bike flew by. Looked at my buddy, and he yelled “ATK 406!!!”.... so I owned one 2-years later. Awesome suspension, on a nickel plated frame.... not the same power as the KX500, though. Had it wide open on the sand, many times... you forget about EVERYTHING!!! Good therapy 😂
