I'm not sure how difficult Presa Canario's are to train but I think that my dog, which is Kangal-Mareema might be more difficult to train but when I say sit, he sits the first time I tell him. He is off leash trained which is amazing considering these are bred for livestock guarding and are stubborn as hell. He listens to voice commands and has been socialized with people and animals since he was a baby. if you come on my property and he knows you, he wil come right up to you for belly rubs but if he doesn't know you, then you would have 175 lbs of hell coming your way. he is trained to protect my acreage, my animals and family yet he is a big pussy cat when out for a walk. He loves all dogs and loves playing with children. If he wasn't trained extensively from the start, he would have been an extremely dangerous animal. Unfortunately, from what I saw on your video, your dog appears to be a scary animal that hasn't had proper training.

if you want to train the dog to guard the house, when they bark at a stimuli - you praise them "Good Bowser, Bowser watches the house." You may also want to train them for a "stop barking" type command, like "Daddy knows (or Mommy knows) - No more barking." They can learn basic commands like that - but you don't want to use a prong collar, they are problematic from several standpoints including they easily flip over and don't work, they can injure the dog, the dog needs to obey commands based on your voice orders, etc. etc. Prong collars are not a good idea. Teaching them to walk properly with a traditional metal/chain choke collar is the way to go - they will learn to respond to it by it's noise/sound, and of all the possible leash/collar combinations, they are the hardest for the dog to "slip" if you handle them properly, which means using the collar's noise, an occasional snap of the collar, not by prolonged choking - you maintain a constant light tension on the collar, it does not hurt them at all.

    • @bmxriderforlife1234

Prong collars are for teaching collars pressure and some dogs just get used to them. If you know what you are doing your animal will almost never get injured while wearing one. Only real risk being if you leave them with it on while they aren't on leash if it gets stuck on something.

Having this type of Dog requires leadership not lead way. They’re dominant by nature. He needs to be properly trained to respond on the 1st command not when he gets ready. It’s a lack of respect he doesn’t see you as the pack leader 1:27

If he aint sitting on your 1st command to S I T than you probably wont be able to control of a HEAVY WEIGHT/POWER HOUSE of a dog if he goes APE SHIT you my friend have a nice presa but also a HUGE LIABILITY in your hands stay safe. I my self have 2 Malinois and first thing i train my dogs on is obedience training and socialization before i even think of training in personal protection.

Beautiful animal. It appears you don’t have adequate control of that animal even in your own home. It makes me concerned for the general public when he’s not in your home. If you can’t gain IMMEDIATE & almost complete control of your Presna, you shouldn’t own one. It’s an accident waiting to happen. Furthermore, this timeless video will serve as evidence of the poor control you have of that animal, in the unfortunate event the Presna acts like a Presna w/ a negligent owner.

Like everyone else said, presas are probably the most intense breed out there. All your training should be about controling that aggression. Speaking from firsthand experience. I had a rescue, an intact male. and I did my best to bring that aggression under control . He ended up severly injuring me, and had to be put down. That shit broke my heart, I cried like a baby. But he could have killed someone else. They need training and plenty of room with a job to do, preferably guarding the land from predators.

Because this is the only breed that does not is not being controlled with treats. Positive training does little. Most will never understand or accept that you Must, I repeat Must be the Alpha. And unfortunately for these lap dog lovers with an opinion that requires domination. Not gd snausages.
