DIY Macrame Snowflake Tutorial - Hemptique

  • Let's learn how to make a macrame snowflake! This is the perfect winter craft to decorate your home with. You can turn this into a wall hanging, table top décor, or even make it into a Christmas ornament. We made this snowflake with our recycled cotton cord. Please see below for the materials and written instructions.
    Materials:
    - Royal Corderié Crafting Cord: hemptique.com/...
    - Wooden Ring (ours is 2.4 inches in diameter)

    Instructions:
    1. Cut 14 cords each 2.5 ft (76 cm) long.
    2. Working your way around the ring, tie 7 square knots.
    3. Moving around the ring, create a 2nd row of 7 alternating square knots. Leave a little space between the rows of square knots.
    4. Make one more row of 7 alternating square knots around the ring. Leave a little space between the rows of square knots.
    5. Cut each strand so that they are about 1 - 1.5 inches long. Leave the ends as is, or brush them out to create some fringe. Trim any ends as necessary.
    6. To make this into an ornament, add a piece of string to one of the square knots.
