I think the "problem" with the space station was that it wasn't an instant gratification machine. To really get these effects to work in your songs, it took a little more work and creativity. I remember a good friend of mine got one dirt cheap on a blowout sale. We spent hours messing around with it, but i never felt like i had to have my own.
Can you PLEASE find a way to get Josh on the show? I just want to hear him talk about gear and all the weird shit he has in his collection and you guys are definitely the best candidate for that!

Also the tuner in this thing is crazy accurate, I tuned my guitar to 440 with this then checked it against my polytune and it was pretty much spot on.
Got a Digitech EX-7, with that exact pitchshift algorithm,....just like that, RIGHTEOUS !!
Got an xp400 for $30 6 years ago that only needed a recalibration. I traded Josh at jHS an xp100, 200, and 400 as well that year. All of which were found cheap for this issue alone. Hahahaha favorite video of yours ever.
I forever regret selling my Space station. I bought one back in the early 2000's and did some of my first recordings with it on bass, what a great pedal. Digitech does make a pedal named the EX-7 expression factory which basically has a lot of the features of the older digitechs, I've never used one but they're still available abd look like a wah wah
My favorite thing about this video is the Monster Vision when Nick is messing with the pedals while Juan plays.
i bought mine in the early 2000s at a used instruments shop for $75. i tested it at the shop and had to have it. ive kept it all these years. Love it! The octave reverb, strings are amazing. the portamento setting is awesome. all awesome!!!
They (Digitech) should really consider reissuing the Space Station. Or all of them. Or a 4-in-1. Prolly wouldn't be "the same". But still.

They did the Bass Whammy. No reason they can't swap a board or two or whatever.

16:15 just to clear something up here. It was the middle 90s, there were plenty of us who knew EXACTLY what to do with that pedal. Problem was we had all spent our money on Phish shows, raves and other awesome 90s stuff and couldn't afford the dang thing. ;)
Digitech should consider doing a kickstarter for it, if only for the sole reason of guaranteeing sales.

The XP-100 CAN in fact be used.
He's half right. There are two different types of xp100. One of them doesn't have enough RAM for the other chips. It's a gamble to do it with an xp100
@@KCruB3ast1 you can buy dip sockets and install more ram, I plan on doing it when I get all parts
You guys should check out the EX-7. It has the space station setting in addition to many other expression functions.

Hello guys I have a space station and ended you using a line 6 pod adaptor to power it up.
This pedal works great with Modular gear.
I bought one of these when they were originally in stores. I hated the power supply for so many years and eventually just started using the Line6 power supplies that they make for the POD, it's called a PX4G? That one is totally built with nice thick road-worthy wires and puts out the same AC voltage. Works for the newer RP500 too.
Love the video on the digitech Space station, any chance of making a pdf of the recalibration table with precise instructions re the power supply burns out? i live in Santiago, Chile where it's 220 with Constant power surges due to the irregular voltage

Vernon Reid made me aware of the Space Station - then a friend who worked in a Brooklyn rehearsal studio found one that had been left behind and unclaimed and gave it to me.
Interesting I remember they where all in the same price range when they came out about 100-200 new. These where famous when korn came out, but Kirk Hammett has used the space station in the studio also on St Anger.

Hi people, I have a space station too and I wanted to calibrate it and read the manual in pdf online to know how and it does not work, I have a ''ER'' message all the time and I can't skip the calibration and there is a super little amount of sound coming out of the pedal. Can anyone help please?
Got an ex7 just to get the synth swell setting Nick uses on Snake Lake. After a day the harman supply blew out and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. To think that's only 1/100 things the space station can do is mind boggling.

Just to let you know that not everyone has the same opinions, and Although I have nowadays 2 original Digitech WH1 original whammy's I still have and use my Digitech XP-100 Whammy Wha, it's the one in my pedalboard and I love it, It's a great unit.
Had one in the 90's. Bought on clearance. It was a novelty pedal and most people didn't want or like them.
I bought a digitech ex-7 just for the space station effect. Now I can cover "Snake Lake" by Tera Melos and I even made an original song with it!

If anyone ever has the chance to buy this pedal I highly recommend it its just awesome.
You can totally mod the xp100!! Some would say it's easier than the others because there is more room inside for upgrade parts.
Just google "xp-all", "xp-all+", or "xp-allin"
I remember seeing this in the Musician's Friend catalogs back in the day and I was always interested in it but I never picked it up. I didn't even really know what it did, there were no online demos at the time.

I have an oooold RP-5 guitar processor pedal board that has the whammy function but its response time is lagy, you have to anticipate what you want to do with the expression pedal in order for it to be on time.
Do the RP-200 300 and so on have that problem?

I've just purchased a brand new Digitech XP-200 and would like to get the same volume swell
as on your XP-200. ( time 13:33 / 27:47 on your video ).
I walked through all the presets but have no clue how to create a volume swell.

Digitech is stupid af for having not reissued this.
miss mine now :( they were hyped all the way back in the early 2000s, I remember selling mine for $350 back then, I think I paid like $280 for it. The stuff that bugged me back then was: the buttons and getting from patch to patch kinda sucked with it. Weird digital clipping.

Actually, you can mod XP-100.
I got 4 in 1 XP-100. Probably, it XP-1000 now, and this pedal work just fine.
do a episode on other good, affordable multi fx pedals if there are any
EX-7 has not only the Space Station but also a decent rotary speaker setting and is 1/2 the price and doesn't take but 3/4 of your pedalboard.

not that great, honestly. ran my moog and dx7 through and it was rather lackluster. the space station is best suited for guitar, i think.

It says on your website that you can't mod the xp100 I have one right here in my hand that's modded with the XP all jet mod so they can be modded I dunno who said you couldn't you swap the eprom chip to mod em mines got four stacked together and selector knob you have to power it off and select the programs you want mine was 400$ and a space station is like 700$ right now

There was a lot of digital gear released in the 90s that failed to catch on because it didnt sound 'analog' enough to guitarists.. I remember there was a ton of 'virtual' analog synths released that you pick up for peanuts now and The first of the modelling amps - the Johnson's came out too, same thing.. didnt catch on. Weren't they bought out by digitech too btw? Yeah, it's easy to sign your name on a petition, but if a company is going to spend 100s of thousand of dollars prototyping, beta testing and releasing a product , they cant have like only a hundred people buy them, no bueno.
