The first drum set I ever saw in a music shop window I was 5 years old I fell in love with them a Rogers kit in the same finish I can still see them in my minds eye, got my first job at 13 I am now 70 still playing still get a buzz
Wow ! dear Steve this ROGERS kit is just fantastic so sweet and ultra musical. The tone of the whole kit + that Dyna- sonic .Amazing how different were the American made drums from each other. LUDWIG, GRETSCH, CAMCO, SLINGERLAND and ROGERS of course ( " The Cadillac of drums as they used to call it ) l had a Londoner kit in blue onyx with a 5×14 Dyna for a few years. Tremendous. l just dig how different your playing gets inspired by the kits you show us. Great chops man.
Steve, you must have created some really good Karma in your life to be able to play all of these truly wonderful vintage drum sets as part of your regular job. This one looks and sounds really, really great. One thing I've learned from watching you demo these sets that come through your store is the popularity of the Buddy Rich drum and cymbal set up. Thanks for this.
Thanks! Appreciate the comment. Karma is something I think we all can benefit from. I always try to “do the right thing, for the right reason”. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think that if we live our lives with that goal in mind, the good Karma follows.
Beautiful Rogers Drums and amazing sound. 👏 Nice playing Steve. I bought a set from you years ago white marine pearl 22 bass drum 13 rack tom and 16 floor double L arm. I will shortly be digging them out and assembling them with a 60s dinosaur drum can't wait to hear what they sound like thanks for the video thanks for the drums
Wow, those sound superb. Steve, I love the way you tune, you always get fabulous results. And, not to mention the awesome condition those are in, just beautiful!
Beautiful kit and great playing ! I have a red onyx celebrity 12, 16, 22. My favorite set to play. The perfect head combo on that 14x22 is Aquarian Force 1 batter, regulator reso, no port. You'll feel the drum in your chest!
Hi Will. I always loved the two 16s because of Buddy, and we know he hardly ever used the second one, but still… And of course Louie… For me, it’s so easy to just tune one down a bit from the other and you get a huge contrast. With this red onyx kit I left the second one tuned much lower and it almost sounds like an 18 or a 20. Great fun.
Like Ludwig, old Rogers heads are not your typical Remo Ambassador weight 10 mil head. They are more along the line of Diplomats, so 7.5 mil thickness. Old Ludwig Med are 7.5 mil. Ludwig heavy were 10 mil. Keep it in mind on these old Rogers Kits. I don't know on Gretsch Permatones or Slingerland heads. Let me know if you do.
Wow!
I love so many different kits and pick a different favor each week, BUT, I always end up up back at Rogers.

I’m not sure I follow anyone on RUclips that so consistently makes me smile. Between the vintage sets and your playing them, it’s always a joy!
BEAUTIFUL set, bro! I have one myself. Love that red onyx! Keep on keepin' on, Steve!

That set is BEAUTIFUL. And the way it sounds with those old heads. Whoever it's taking that set to home, it's getting a treasure.

Love my set, about the same year as those. Same finish with a 20" kick, two 12, and a 16 " floor.
Perfect bass drum sound. Somehow you made a bass drum actually sound musical!
LOVE it! Great playing Steve!
And the snare drum was always included.
Wonderful Celebrity outfit.
Always questioned the two 16 inch floor toms..a bit of dual.redundancy
I like 14/16..yet it's a gem
