  • Did you know that NINA now has a scheduler plugin?? A dream come true: now not only does NINA automate your astrophotography equipment all night, but it will also choose which targets to image on a given night, based on conditions like distance from the Moon for each filter, priority, optimizing for time near the meridian and visibility hours of the target using your local horizon, and more! Target Scheduler plugin author Tom Palmer joins us to talk about this awesome new tool.

Does this work better than SGP? I've been using SGP for awhile and I'm ready to throw it in the trash.

I really appreciate the demo in this video, but I have a question, for example, if I want to make a project of the IC objects and another of the Sh objects. Should I do each one with a different profile? Copying the original profile and modifying the name to have two identical profiles, with different names and in each of them a project.
Thank you very much for your time and your response.
    Greetings

Molly here -- you could make a project under the profile you already have, one for Sh, and one for IC, and then add all of those targets under each project. The downside is you can't individually turn on and off individual targets or set priority for individual targets. But you can effectively change those settings by adjusting the number of frames you want -- near the end of getting all the frames will be higher priority, and having 100% acquired frames turns off the target.

@@TAIC I am just now coming up to speed with the Target Scheduler. This video finally put the pieces together for me. Multiple projects can be created for each profile and individually set to active or inactive in the project settings. And each target can be enabled or disabled in the target.

I was just wondering if such a tool or plug-in exists yesterday~ Can it work with multiple products - such as APT or SGP - which I am far more familiar with or only N.I.N.A. at the moment?
I think one day I will end up on N.I.N.A. - but for the moment can this plug-in work with other imagin software directly - or export its nightly viewing target sequnces to APT and/or SGP in an automated / intelligent way?
Really cool find - I was about to develop a supporting tool like this in access or excel to plan my next 20 targets over the coming six months - this might automated a lot of the grunt calculations needed!
